AA Radar Question

I have looked at the OOBs (sorry Don, I know I shouldn't do it) and one thing about the AA Radar values (FC >= 100) confuses me. In the Mobhack guide it says:

Which indicates that FC100 would...

Re: Current Finnish OOB - some notes for discussion

Thanks about the NERA info. I knew about its existence but hadn't looked at it more closely .

About the TOW-2B: I was under the impression that it uses an EFP (Explosively Formed Projectile)...

Re: Current Finnish OOB - some notes for discussion

More stuff, this time AT weapons:

The 37mm AT guns (both of them, the current OOB has only one) were not really used in AT role after 1945. No source I have seen mentions them as AT assets in the...

Re: Current Finnish OOB - some notes for discussion

The problem with sources on old Finnish post-war infantry TO&E's is that there are very little in the way of secondary sources. The old Field Manuals are not available in electronic form, and often...

Current Finnish OOB - some notes for discussion

The infantry units with bolt actions and SMGs as secondary weapons do not have multiplied SMGs. The standard post-WW2 OOB was to have two SMGs for each infantry squad and three for each Jaeger squad....

Re: Questions on Small Arms - Soviet/Russia

Yes, 1952-1975 would be as accurate as one can reasonably hope for front-line service years of the AK-47/AKM.

The Pecheneg was designed according the experiences of the Chechen wars. The RPK-74...

Re: Questions on Small Arms - Soviet/Russia

Some other odds and ends for those wanting maximum historical accuracy:

Maxim 1910/30 MG was still in use in the late 1940.

M1891/44 (a.k.a. M1944) carbine was officially the standard...

Re: Questions on Small Arms - Soviet/Russia

Now for the actual small arms:

AK-47/AKM: 1949-1950 only small scale production for elite units such as paratroopers. Actual start of mass production (AK-47) in 1951. Production of AKM for the Red...

Re: Questions on Small Arms - Soviet/Russia

Let's do the disposable launchers and RPG-29 next. If someone thinks this is nitpicking, be free to feel so. This is just for reference:

RPG-18: penetration 300mm. Manufactured for export until...

Re: Questions on Small Arms - Soviet/Russia

I know there is no way to separate the warhead from the launcher in the game mechanics, but what I provided gives you the possible historical combinations, so an RPG-7V1 in 1990 might be shooting...

RPG-7 versions (Re: Questions on Small Arms - Soviet/Russia)

First off, we should separate rocket from launcher:

RPG-7:

PG-7V 85mm warhead, 260mm penetration. Introduced 1961. Launcher phased out of Soviet service or modernized to RPG-7V standard in...

Re: Too Much Ammo

Since the AI fires arty at smoke puffs as well, that's just part of the risk of using ammo supply vehicles in general. I rarely use ammo supply for anything else than on-board artillery and mortars....

Re: Too Much Ammo

And yes, I have looked at the problem in the past and not seen any sane solution for the AI and ammo resupply.

A comprehensive solution would require a very sophisticated AI, there...

Michal, I suggest you put the corrections you suggested in a custom OOB and publish it in the mods section for us rivet counters to enjoy. I agree that the lack of major production models of the Pz...

Re: Stabilizer Values

Why? Turreted vehicles have no advantage in re-acquiring a target after movement if they don't actually have a stabilizer. In the time-frame covered by SPWW2 only some US tanks had a stabilizer (a...

Re: Tigers

That's pretty funny. :D You pounded the Tiger crew into submission with repeated non-penetrating hits. IRL, it would probably require you to immobilize the Tiger first in order to get the crew to...

Please also note that small arms fire with penetration 0 will never cause immobilization on armored vehicles.

While Tigers for sure were not invincible, a platoon of M3/M5 Stuart light tanks would have great difficulty taking out a Tiger even on favorable ground. Basically they would have to go for mobility...

Re: 2 Pounder 40mm Explosive Rounds

Yes, there was. However, the Bofors HE round was allegedly a much better design than the British HE for the 2 pounder, which was based on shell HE shell of the naval 2 pounder "pom-pom" AA gun. Also...

Re: 2 Pounder 40mm Explosive Rounds

No, the cartridges were not the same. The 2 pounder was 40 x 304R, but the 40mm Bofors was 40 x 311R. They also had a different rim diameter. However, it would have been possible to use the HE shell...
