Re: Colony Types

Maybe migration between empires should depend on population loyalty, or does it work like that already?
Or happines could be a factor, with people migrating towards places with higher happines.

Just bought SEV and got starfury for free

I'm just posting this because some other people might be interested. Strategy first has an offer where if you buy SEV you get starfury for free (as a download)
I had seen offers for SEV with a free...

Re: Intelligent Design

The crab design, or some simillar design (spiders with crab claws) would work on land too.

The gathering of the main sensors and processing core is a valid point though, some variation might be...

Re: Intelligent Design

I think it's very unlikely to expect all aliens to be humanoids, there are plenty of viable alternatives, and a few billion years of evolution on earth has produced a few nice examples.

Take the...

Re: Some SE V Models

Yes texturing can be a huge pain.
Here's a link to a tutorial that I found very usefull, it's written for photoshop and max3d, both of which are way too expensive for me, but luckily most of it can...

Re: SE:V Shipset Questions

Very nice and interesting ship design http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Pondering SE:V performance

Thats good to know. Are fighters always drawn as flat objects in spacecombat, or do they use the 3d models when you zoom in? I seem to recall some screenshots (of groundcombat) with what seems like...

Re: SE:V Shipset Questions

Does starfury give you an error, or does the ship model simply not show up? If that's the case you might just have made the scale of your ship too small (by a factor of 1000 or so) Quite a few...

Re: SEV shipset instructions?

Work on my shipset is progressing slowly, I've got 6 models finished and UV-mapped, still need to texture them and get all the renders and slot layouts done.

Anyhow I've got another question. The...

Re: OT: The solar system has 12 planets

Hmm the barycentre is indeed defined by the *average* distance between the two objects. Still, if they are in eleptical orbits the distance to the barycentre can change, if I understand correctly,...

Re: OT: The solar system has 12 planets

Very true http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
It's still an akward definition for a planet though, what if Charon had been in an eleptical orbit, so the barycenter would...

Re: SEV shipset instructions?

I think the firing arcs are a graphical thing only: If your ship is firing at an enemy behind it the laserbeam will originate at the point specified by the corresponding firing arc somewhere at the...

Re: OT: The solar system has 12 planets

That's quite a messy definition... If I recall correctly the barycenter is influenced by the distance between the two objects, not just their mass. By this definition Charon wouldn't have been a...

Re: SEV shipset instructions?

Thanks kwok! That's very usefull information.

I'm going to worry about the rendered images and slot placement later, but it would be nice to know the dimensions of the race portrait, I have an...

Re: SEV shipset instructions?

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I could claim it's a shipset for a race of intelligent bacteria, that would explain the size difference..

Thanks for the comments, I'll...

SEV shipset instructions?

The SEV release date is almost upon us, and this brings back memories from the days just before the release of it's predecessor SEIV.

Back then, several months before the release of SEIV, malfador...

Re: New Races For Use With CBmod

I just downloaded the shipsets and started my first CB-Mod game. The shipsets are excellent. If you're going to have a large carrier battle, you have to have a starwars shipset...

Re: SE:V Screenshots at the SE Depot

The 12th screenshot has crab-like troops in it, that probably means the game supports animated models (moving legs etc.) very nice.

On the other hand, I don't really like the square shape of the...
