Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

Default action on moving to a fort is defend, and I hate, hate, hate, that default. How often are you going to want to run inside a fort anyway? You can always help break siege from outside. The only...

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

There's only two of us delivering NAP termination notices. :p It's our armies that seem endless, but they only fight. :D

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

Default action is defend. If you click on another province with him selected, or remove magic items, he'll revert to defend. I suspect there are other similar ways to lose orders. I've lost move...

Re: UnitGen - Random nations with procedural sprites!

I get "Bad version number in .class file". What version of java are you using?

No, I've had some close calls myself.

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

I can't really disagree with Szumo's grouping analysis, but I certainly feel like "minimum inter pares" (least among equals) in the top group. Some of it involves things that went that I'm not going...

Re: Shared AAR Experience (pre-thread) (game initiated- see game thread)

What about an indexing thread? You could have one post for every nation with posts listed in order, and maybe one post for every turn (since they'd be grouped together in the real thread that's less...

Re: Shared AAR Experience (pre-thread) (s there interest?)

I was thinking about an AAR in my current game, but I've made so many lame-brain mistakes I'd be too embarrassed now. :re: Maybe next game.

Re: Questions by a MP Newb

I find with misfortune the only acceptable option is to have enough PD that the barbs lose. Expensive, but with good order affordable and it does have benefits when you're getting invaded.

Re: Some beginner gameplay and strategies questions

It is a bit depressing, but it's kind of par for the course for worlds with magic. Critical tropes of magic stories, particularly lost artifacts/spells/lineages of surpassing power, don't make much...

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

I generally don't like converging armies, because not too infrequently only one moves. I'd thought it was because of interfering orders (e.g. I have two armies moving into a province, he has one...

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

It usually happens when you have the army selected and then look at another province. Right-click will select the new province and deselect the army with its orders intact. However, left-click tries...

Re: Santa in the Chimney - no diplo mp game, 6/6, game ended, revenant - ermor wins!

The Ashen angel on my Iron Angel must have been from the Tartarian Chains he was wielding. So the flavor text on *that* item (attacked by monsters from Tartaria) actually means something. Kinda cool....

Re: Santa in the Chimney - no diplo mp game, 6/6, game ended, revenant - ermor wins!

I figured it out. My Iron Angel had Ritual of Returning (I'm not sure how, actually - does Armor of Virtue leave that behind?) and teleported out. Another Ashen Angel (the one you're referring to, I...

Re: Santa in the Chimney - no diplo mp game, 6/6, game ended, revenant - ermor wins!

When I took over Ossa had left me a big pile of mages and a commanding lead in artifact Construction. But there was almost no Ulmish army - basically just a hodgepodge of retreat survivors. Ermor had...

Re: Santa in the Chimney - no diplo mp game, 6/6, starting

We had multiple large battles on that last turn, so we definitely ended with some good fights.

I closed out Santa on the Llama server. Great game everyone![/QUOTE]

Good for you maybe, you won...

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

Rollback and new orders is a no-go IMO. Is it possible to rollback and roll forward with the sent orders? That seems the way to go. In this case, since Mictlan, who Ermor is fighting, staled, he...

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

Well, that explains why I had such a good turn. He's been a tough opponent - I assumed he had been spending a lot of time thinking about his turns.

Re: MP: New Noob Game/Inexperienced. EA - NOOBAPHOBIA Filled

It's pretty early for long turns - we can't use them and they'll considerably draw out the game. I think players should just ask for extensions.

Re: Threadspotting: troop positioning and tactics

I think it's an exploit because it's pretty ridiculous behavior. It only works because Illwinter hasn't had the time to work out a better targetting system. Illwinter has acted before to cut down on...

Re: Dominions 3 A.I. Mod

You can't modify the AI, but you could write an automated player. It would be quite a project, though.
