For the PBW issue, it may be the FireWall settings for your router.
As to tcp, I've never tried it (dial-up over here) so have no clue.

Sounds like you're running out of resources...
Make sure you aren't running other programs, and that your computer meets AT LEAST the minimum requirements.

I think (man this branch is skinny!) that one remote miner from each ship can mine each asteroid group. So if you had two asteroid Groups, two ships with two remote miners each= 4 mining production...
