I noticed that I am only now getting severe lag with asteroid belt systems, compared to 1.13. In 1.13, I was able to look at any system without any noticeable lag, whereas now asteroid systems take...

I have this problem also, but I'm running on a desktop. It's not a bad one, either, since it can run HL2 and Civ4 very well, and Oblivion... moderately... But then it plays SE:V, and gets about 35...

I like the editor so far, but it has decided that any changes to the Weapon Reload Rate MS Formula should get stored in the Seeker Speed Formula instead, which causes errors, etc.

This definitely seems like the biggest problem. A carrier could supply several battles if fighters returned what they didn't use, and it would be able to move after a long fight.

Neither SE4 nor SE5 have totally random map generators, it seems to me. The first clue is that I have a game in SE4 with the exact same map layout as SE5. Also, many other games in both SE4 and SE5...

This always bugged me in SE:IV, but it isn't so bad now for some reason. It would be nice to have a toggleable option to auto-select a colonized planet in a stack, however.
