Are huge maps harder?

I've only played on the biggest map & I always get slammed. I've tried Jotunheim, Ulm, Arcos, Marignon, Man, Pythium. I am not competitive at all with Ulm or Jotunheim. Marignon and Man works a bit...

I put Amon Hotep, Aseftik's armor, Barrier shield on the Earth Mother and she still has only 34 protection. How come? The protection items don't stack together?

Chalice and Amon Hotep

2 questions:

1. Does the Chalice heal wounds during battle?

2. Does Amon Hotep make you invulnerable literally? It says it protects you from both physical and magical harm...

Neifel giants suck?

Do you think having such a low attack and defense skills (11 and 11) is justified on such a costly unit? In my experience, they miss so much against the better melee units and conversely gets hit too...

It's a stupid damn spell. I lost like 10 high level commanders and their units as well. Ridiculous.

I had a huge army with lots of high level commanders. Then half of my army was lost, with the message that went something like "your men have been lured into the forest and was never seen again" or...

Which Jotun Infantry do you use mainly?

Other than Niefel Giants (which you can't really mass), what do you use? Hirdman? Spearman? Huskarl? And why?
