The gods are one of the things I'm most happy with. You do realise they are 0 point gods? The whole nation is meant for people who don't want overpowered stuff. I think they are good value for 0...

I'd drop the damage a bit, and reduce the accuracy penalty to -1.

More or less survivable is all a matter of their pricing. Realism > arbitary balance in a game like this anyway. At least to me.

As for Jomon, I intend to volunteer to play them myself in our next multiplayer match. If I make mistakes, I'll pay the price. As they are now, they are very silly indeed.

Well I did create a few units Gandalf, to round it out. I feel a bit guilty on not tweaking the Provincial Cav graphics, since it's of course marverni cav from Early Age.

Aw, I hope not. Tarts are interesting. Sure they are nice, but that 25% chance of crazy makes them strategically unreliable. If one couldn't GoR them that would become meaningless.

Give him high innate enc, and maybe one point of exhaustion if you're feeling nasty. That's bad enough for a mage.

I and Nekov have ideas of expanding Independent Kingdom to Early and Late ages as well. It was just easiest to start with...
