Re: Suhiir's Revised USMC OOB #13

I had a look at this and it seems like you gave the USMC OOB some much needed love. I wouldn't be myself if I didn't have some questions however. You have access to different and likely better...

Re: MRAPs and a couple of general questions.

As of December 2009, the number of MRAP variants and subvariants in service or being developed for the US military stood at 28, including the new M-ATV. The links provided are to the...

Re: OOB24 ARVN Suggestions

So I just wanted to quickly amend my position on the M8 armored car (Unit 266). According to the US Army's Vietnam series monograph, "Mounted Combat in Vietnam," a 1967 US Army study suggested that...

Re: MRAPs and a couple of general questions.

Committing to buy 6,500 vehicles sounds like at least someone has an interest in them (even if its only Oshkosh heh). The first 2 vehicles arrived in Afghanistan in September. By that point DoD had...

Re: Repair vehicle and units

The larger version I have pretty much rules out the Ontos. There's no superstructure like the Ontos has. The M40 is also held in place with a barrel clamp, which looks more likely to have been held...

Re: Repair vehicle and units

I've seen this picture in a book I have. No one seems to know the story behind it. Its an M56 Scorpion chassis with an M40 106mm recoilless rifle.

A400M...or not.

Re: Australian tank squadrons

The organization for the Tank Squadron attached to the ATF in Vietnam as of 1970, according to the documentation put out by the Army Concept Team in Vietnam, showed a squadron with 4 troops with 4...

Re: S. Korea M48A3 with (range 18) CMG

The cupola on the M48A3 was found to be so cramped that at least in the US case, the commander's machine gun was often removed and mounted on top of the cupola. I would imagine that the South...

Re: Questions on unit classes for Andy/Don

Never said they weren't. Makes perfect sense that the spotter's weapon would be a more capable rifle. The HEK idea makes good sense too if you're not planning on having single man sniper units.

Re: Questions on unit classes for Andy/Don

The only issue with this is that the code treats the weapon in slot 1 as being issued to every member of the "squad." So you'd have it essentially treat the 2-man unit as having 2 M40s. From what...

Re: Questions about soviet artillery and other in game

You had suggested that there was a bias based on nationality. I was saying that if the nationalities were different, but the evidence was the same, I would still not believe the scenario to be true.

Re: Questions about soviet artillery and other in game

A lot of the supposed kills by insurgents wielding a wide array of weapons in Iraq were mobility kills, with the vehicles later knocked out (usually by air strikes) to prevent capture of sensitive...

Re: OOB24 ARVN Suggestions

Unit 012: M41A3
Unit 014: M48A3

I would suggest providing a vision 0 version of both units. While the M41 in US service featured as standard a visual light searchlight on top of the main gun,...

Re: OOB24 ARVN Suggestions

I completely agree with that, but what I can't seem to determine is just how many other M24s were left and what their running condition was. The ones used in the static defense positions appear to...

OOB24 ARVN Suggestions

Note these are just suggestions. I'm not at all familiar with 100% of the scenarios, so things like "could be removed" could easily be interpreted as reclassing units or simply using the X3 radio...

Re: A-20 Fighter bomber

The A-20G-1 (with the 4x20mm cannon nose) was not received well by the USAAF. The reliability of the cannon was notoriously bad. Most of these were passed to the Soviet Union (one might consider...

After 10 months of self-imposed hiatus after my hissy fit I've decided to return to the forums. I think I was the only one who was offended and really had no good reason to be.

The google site...

Re: MRAPs and a couple of general questions.

Just to be clear on this, the Mastiff is a Force Protection Cougar variant. These vehicles were bought as COTS items and that name was not given to them by the USMC. That's the name they have...

Will do. I never played the releases before the Windows capable variants, so that was how it was on my end. I will be sure to add a note about this.
