Re: air strikes

Probably, but would in real war "units" do something they would consider suicidal?

But yeah, I've noticed the same thing, sometimes the planes seem to completely ignore the approach and exit...

Re: Bail out negates opfire

What about troops carried by the bailed out vehicle? When the vehicle is bailed out the troops get unloaded for free. Will they now trigger opfire as well?

Re: Bail out negates opfire

Yeah I'm sure. I've attached a savegame so you can witness the phenomena yourself. First try unloading unit number B2, Merkava MICV. You will trigger around half a dozen opfires. Then reload the...

Bail out negates opfire

While fiddling around I couldn't help noticing that bailing out the crew from a vehicle loaded with troops unloads the vehicle without giving the enemy opfire. Is this intended behaviour? Or a result...

Naval guns response times

While I was playing a beach assault, I noticed that my naval guns have abnormally low response times. Attached are two save games demonstrating this effect, one in the 50s and one in the modern era,...

Re: no smoking

Well. Are you absolutely sure that they are on map units? Maybe your enemy is being sneaky and has renamed his off map grads to confuse you?

Re: no smoking

Yeah I'm pretty sure seeing smoke has nothing to do with FOs. It could be that your enemy is somehow shooting only a few rounds every turn, thus creating no smoke.

Doesn't sound too strange as...

Re: not shooting

Are you sure the enemy is not within the mimimum range of your entac jeeps? They seem to have a minimum range of 8 hexes. Same goes for your supposedly strela-2 -armed hizbollah groups. The strelas...

Re: HARM - too weak in penetration?

Ok this is slightly off topic, but sometimes I've seen the message "radar shuts down", which obviously makes the missile miss almost certainly. My question here is, how long will it take for the...

Re: Modern US OOB

I'd say just like the other artillery precision rounds are modelled. As artillery cluster munitions.

Re: New Finnish OOB

Ok, I've got a question for Zipuli. Or anyone else if someone happens to know. The modified Finnish OOB has the Finns using Bv 202 from 1963 onwards. Despite my best efforts I couldn't find any...

Re: New Finnish OOB

I've been working on a little something lately and I though I'd give you a taste of it.

Attached is a scenario, part of an upcoming ten scenario pack based on the book Operaatio Finlandia by Arto...

Re: ATGM availability

12 launchers in a platoon? That sounds pretty high. Are you sure you didn't mean to say company? I mean, I can understand the need to be ATGM heavy if you are low on tanks, but wouldn't 12 launchers...

Problems with retreat directions

Ok I'm not sure if this has been answered before. I remember reading one topic about units retreating towards the enemy once, but I don't think it was related to this. If it was, then sorry.

So...

Re: Romania - Third Republic , Volume I

Nice work with the backstory. I'm gonna give this a try.

Edit: Ok, I gave it a go. Not too bad, maybe a bit easyish, but that's not really a problem if it's gonna be a part of a larger series of...

Re: your armies

It depends a lot on the battle type.

If I'm fighting an advance or assault battle, I usually go for mech infantry supported by tanks in a roughly 3:1 or 2:1 ratio. That is, a platoon of tanks...

Re: cluster mortars

I wouldn't go as far as calling it the best. The STRIX rounds lack the penetration to reliably take out MBTs. They are, however, real killers when used against IFVs and APCs.

And yeah, the STRIX...

Re: New Finnish OOB

I gave it a go. It was a nice variation. I managed to get a strong marginal victory, although I did suffer some pretty bad losses as the Russians had some weapons pretty well suited for urban combat....

Re: New Finnish OOB

Feel free to. And if you do, please share it with the rest of us. I kinda enjoyed the mix of a landing operation and urban combat and I think I might enjoy it even more if I didn't know exactly what...

Disk Re: New Finnish OOB

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you could enjoy it! Whenever I actually get around to creating scenarios, I try to do something that hasn't been done a million times already. Amphibious landings...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

I'm sure Sgt. Cujo and his subordinates would be great at following orders. Or even understanding what the heck is going on around them.

Re: BMGs, CMGs,AAMGs,TMGs,whateverMGs

Maybe I can offer some clarity then. Visibility beyond a few hundred meters outside Lapland and Ostrobothnia would be a rarely seen luxury. The rest of the country is pretty much dense forest. water...

Re: engineers

On the dependability of engineering units on detecting minefields, I don't think I've ever had an engineer squad walk into a minefield before detecting it. However on numerous occasions I've had fast...
