Re: Procyon - One age - Started!

For 67 months have the peoples of Sauromatia and Arcoscephale existed in peace, and even cooperation, with one another. The end of this pax is at hand. The expansionist armies of the Sauromatian...

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Yeah, that's an impressive Tart collection DC has been growing. Arcoscephalian Intelligence recently witnessed an (accidental?) run-in between Mictlan and some of them (along with pimped out Queens...

Re: H2 priests: Why, when, how?

I can definitely vouch for this. With Arco, I use Priestesses primarily for Sermon of Courage and not for their ability to heal or their N1 magic. With a little encouragement, Barbarians (low rcost...

Re: H2 priests: Why, when, how?

Communions can be another reason for building H2 units, since you can boost a H2 communion master to H3 or H4 with a smaller supporting cast than a H1 communion master. This can allow Divine Blessing...

Re: EA Arco - uncle moneybags

Another interesting guide, Baalz.

In my experience playing with EA Arco, I've also become a big fan of the Oreiad and developed a strat quite similar to what you recommend. Hadn't thought of...

Re: Best Turmoil Luck Nations

I'm not criticizing your scale choices, but have you had success attributable to these scales in MP games? Also, would I be correct to assume that you use an awake SC pretender to aid early...

Re: Best Turmoil Luck Nations

I'm guessing that you aren't suggesting that turmoil should be taken along with the luck. Arco has some fairly gold-intensive recruits. If you are also taking some sloth for the Philosophers, then I...

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Welcome, Shogi.

I would also be fine with waiting for jmb to return. With 72-hour hosting, we would only be missing about 2 turns....

Re: Perking up the AI

Boa does indeed look nice. But, it does not appear to have been updated for the past 1.5 years. I guess if what is already there works well, then great. I probably wouldn't want to get too wedded to...

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I'm fine with 72 hours.

You could let Mictlan stale while I gobble up its territories.... Just kidding, of course. No, I don't what to say about the situation. I'm content to wait until we find a...

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

Greg, I think encumbrance is strictly related to weight. A defence penalty can be given to account for other things, such as ill-fitting armor, restricted neck or torso motion, restricted field of...

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

AFAIK, the prot ranges for mundane armors could be expanded, but then all of the magic armor prots would also have to be bumped up and weapon damages would have to be changed as well. A Dom 3...

Re: Procyon - One age - Started!

Sauromatia and Arcoscephale have a standard NAP-3, effective as of turn 9.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Sauromatia. :)

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

Hmmm... My observation is that there is a lot of iron armor in EA. When I went through Edi's DB looking for monsters which equip bronze armors, they seemed to be a minority even within EA. Hence, my...

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

Sorry, Jim, I'm reading two different things from you. Are you claiming that we should be comparing early bronze to early iron (first quote), or that we should be comparing late bronze to early iron...

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

This is consistent with the mineral availability argument. The gradual change is interesting, though not entirely surprising. However, in some cases, cataclysmic events may have precipitated the...

Re: [OT] Roguelikes?

I haven't tried Zangband, but have found vanilla Angband and NPPAngband to be quite enjoyable. ToME has massive variety (you can choose a Death Mold as a character race, among other things), and a...

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

Chris, I'm guessing that metallicity is probably just flagged by a bit. I guess we could request a new modding command to twiddle that bit, if someone hasn't already done so.

Greg, interesting...

Jazz, I just looked at kaiser's profile.

We could wait a few more days and then create a replacement game...?

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

Very interesting thought, Chris. I had not considered this.
To be honest, I didn't even know there was a #metal (sp?) flag. I don't see it in the modding manual, but it would make sense to have -...

Re: Brazen Benevolence (Bronze Armors)

Early bronze was arsenic bronze. However, alloying copper with tin produces harder armor, and I think it was this alloy which was used for armoring after it was developed.

Well, you can cast...

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I always thought of Mictlan stealing hearts in the literal sense rather than the figurative one. ;) Enjoy your amorous reprieve from Dom3 brutality.

Re: Procyon - One age - Upload pretenders!

I counted 7 water provinces, which leaves 68 land provinces to be divided up by 4 land players, an average of 17 per player. While that makes a land player like me happy, I'm not sure if that's good...
