Re: Simeultaneous move - is intercept possible?

Sounds like the right thing - thanks. I will try it and see if it works as described!

Simeultaneous move - is intercept possible?

Obviously if you can guess where an enemy fleet is you can meet him there but is there no way to have your fleet automatically try to intercept his assuming he comes in range? If not, it should be...

Re: SE IV Gold Demo - any opponents out there?

While we wait for PBW how about someone playing me either TCP/IP or by regular email?

Re: bug found in gold?

We had a trade alliance and our relations were warm. He seemed quite willing to keep it even when I had invaded his planets and killed several ships.

Re: bug found in gold?

I captured the planets and ships the "old fashioned way" - conquest. The demo doesn't give you enough tech levels to "build" serious intelligence ops.

Re: keeping captured planets

so it seems in general once your enemy's planet has been conquered it stays conquered with very little effort. Something I think should be included in future editions is the need for a garrison, at...

bug found in gold?

I have just conquered the planet of a neighbour, destroyed several ships and captured others yet he still keeps trading with me and his ships are not attacked by my minefields. This turn I have...

Re: auto mine laying

I just took a look and I don't see a "repeat orders" option alas. Perhaps I missed it? Anyone else know where I might find one?

Re: SE IV Gold Demo - any opponents out there?

Not one person is interested in playing Gold demo by email or TCP/IP? Nobody want to get a "head start" before the game hits the shops?

keeping captured planets

Pardon if this is a FAQ but a search didn't yield an answer - is there a rule of thumb about the nmber of troops needed to garrison a conquered planet to keep it from revolting? Does the powerfulness...

auto mine laying

It would help if I could ask my ship to keep laying mines at a spot up to a certain number instead of having to return to it each turn and ask it to lay more mines. Is there a feature I missed that...

Re: Keeping your distance (II)

Nice to know number of squares range from an intellectual point of view but it doesn't help much when playing strategically because crossing a system warp point to warp point is a different distance...

Keeping your distance (II)

There should be better AI assistance to prevent you from running out of fuel on the way somewhere. If the computer knows you will run out it should re-rout you to a refuelling point along the way or...

Keeping your distance (I)

There should be a way to sort planets and/or units being displayed by distance from the currently selected unit/planet. That would make it easier to do things like pick up mines from the nearest...

Re: Newbie Q4 (suggestion?) Viewing ranges

A single long range weapon in among a lot of short ones would of course change the on-screen radius but it's still only a guide - you the user could always elect to use the normal way to display the...

Re: Tactical combat and Gold

I agree that for more than two players TCP/IP tactical might be a hassle. Though I would still offer it as an option - perhaps with the ability to watch the combat if you are an ally of one of the...

But if it is already implemented in hotseat surely a similar implementation could be done for TCP/IP?! Come on Malfador...

Re: Tactical combat and Gold

Ah - as I feared... Is there any way to do tactical combat against other humans? Hot seat play for example? Or is it just impossible?

Tactical combat and Gold

Malfador says that TCP/IP support is in SE IV Gold. I assume this means a faster way of doing essentially the same turn-based game? Or has it been implemented in such a way that you can play tactical...

SE IV Gold Demo - any opponents out there?

I know that the 100 turn time limit and the tech limit are a drag, but I want to get some practice in against humans and see how multiplayer works before I get ahold of Gold...

Re: Newbie Q4 (suggestion?) Viewing ranges

Sure - but what if you are trying to maneuver your ships around the enemy's planet or satellites to get at ships on the other side. You can tell you are 10 away from the planet to begin with, but you...

Re: Newbie Q4 (suggestion?) Viewing ranges

Well, if you are a careful counter there is no guess work involved - so why not make it a little easier to avoid tedious counting?
