Uhm, you can't add abilities. They're all hard coded in the game engine and listed in abilities.txt. The game doesn't use abilities.txt, it's just there for us modders to know what abilities we can...

Doesn't work. Even if you launch a year after the first launch the second batch will be added to the first batch so they'll always be in one stack.

Just move them to a planet that isn't rioting instead. Riots are tracked by planet, not population. Move them to a happy planet and they'll become happy.

Basically, what you want to do is spread like locust. Grab as many systems as possible as soon as possible. Just colonize one or two planets/system to get a legitimate hold on it and if possible...
