Re: Russian Chemical Troops

Offensive chemical troops generally date back to WW1 and have in time included a lot of "non-conventional" weapons outside outright WMDs, i.e. pretty much anything that doesn't fire solid shells.
As...

Re: Barges - unsinkable islands.

Don, don't get me wrong, I don't find boats in general to be too easily sunk on the whole. When I say that soe get sunk by what I find to be too small-caliber weapons. In the end. After being...

Re: Barges - unsinkable islands.

I have been toying around with boats recently and noticed that they show about the right amount of endurance to multiple hits, even being able to get back to operations after a few turns reducing...

Re: OOB067 Sudan: New info

Good on you Don, because this one is going to be a mess on its own right, with no sources to speak of.
I may start modding it this time around, but I don't guarantee that the result will have any...

OOB067 Sudan: New info

As discussed in an unrelated thread, it looks like Sudan has been on a major shopping spree in the last years, and receiving massive Chinese support.

Based on several videos...

Re: Al-Khalid, Type 98, and T-90 continue to dminate world tank sales

Sorry for the double post, I wanted to edit the first but I haven't noticed in time that the original Forecast International report was from 2006, hence the absence of the Korean K-2.
And hence the...

Re: Al-Khalid, Type 98, and T-90 continue to dminate world tank sales

Interesting, thanks for the info. Found the same analysis dating back to 2006 there though :D

I'm surprised not to see the new Daewoo K2 in the...

Re: New Country OOB Projects

Same here, you can always work around conflicts within the same country, but we are talking two separate entities in the same OOB here. Anyone including the IA selecting units for Singapore vs...

Re: Player icon mods: wants

Got it the first time, thanks ;) no such things in the pipeline for now though, IMO the current Marder series are good enough, I'm not going to start a series just for a desert version.
Wouldn't...

Re: My SP Icon Database is back!

Wow, really great job!
Just a question, are you doing only cancelled/experimental programs for now?

Re: possibly jeep atgm bug

Just a reminder, high-experience units can sometimes get a second shot opportunity in the turn with most ATGMs. This also translates into being able to shoot off on the move, though at reduced speed....

Re: Iraq errors report

Hmm, with TI and some decent EW (according to the article), this is going to be a nice addition to the post-OIF Iraqi OOB's air capability. Right now there is only F-16s starting 2011, this...

Re: pack mules

Also, big difference is in the mobility. IIRC all hooved units have the same move factor as infantry, so they are much better at dealing with slopes, rough and indeed buildings than regular trucks....

Re: ATGM availability

Yes, this launcher (often referred to as the "Hammerhead" and I'm sure I have a designation lying around somewhere) was used on the US M901 first I believe. It was also used on the Marine's LAV-ATs,...

Re: Iraq errors report

Just for the sake of nitpicking, the .50 MG here looks pretty much like an NSV, save for the chaingun-like belt  on left side. And no ammo feed on right side. Conversion with NATO-style...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

As Warwick said, hedge mobility damage are here already. Just try running a tank full steam into a hedgerow and see what happens... I don't know how far this goes back to in game versions, but I have...

Re: Transport for U.S. Patriot units.

More like 1 minute, let's say between 30 seconds and 2 minutes depending on what happens in the turn.

Re: Counter battery fire

As you said, off-map range values are abstractions where the only rule is that e.g. 211 is higher than 210. IIRC, in the old games (maybe still in WinSPWW2?) the rule of thumb was that 1 range point...

Re: ATGM availability

In more detail:

1) & 2) are really country-dependent. As said above, it depends on the class of ATGM you are talking about, US being the exception with overwhelming quantities of short-range...

Re: ATGM availability

1) and 2) depends largely on which class of ATGM you are dealing with: short-range (Dragon, Eryx, AT-7), medium-range (Milan, AT-4) or long-range (TOW, AT-5). US gets 1-3 short-range ATGM per platoon...

Re: What 3 companies should I buy If I want to be as accurate as possible?

One big problem I can see if you try to stick to the books with the US organization, is that battalions are specialized.
In other words, if you buy only these three companies that one actual Lt.Col....

Re: Cold War 2020 Mod R.C.0.6 is out!

Look, I have just tested a fresh install on my side and all these units work perfectly well in the encyclopedia and buy screens, under all climates.

I have given you a way forward to check where...

Re: Cold War 2020 Mod R.C.0.6 is out!

As I said last time, I have no idea where your problem comes from because the units you mention use official WinSPMBT3.0 icons and not modded ones.
That's assuming you are still talking about...

Basically, how about using Chechen OOB for Caucasus insurgents and Mujahadeen OOB for Central Asia insurgents? In both cases they could also be used against/in neighbouring countries (respectively...

Re: Georgian OOB?

Without looking too much into actual inventories, I'd say you can use the Red OOB to simulate most former Soviet republics, with captured units from Russia and Ukraine for the high-end equipment that...
