Re: What is exactly the difference in AI settings?
They have access to sites, definitely. Indeed, that's part of why I'm not sure if they have to search. I have a good idea of how many sites I find and how many gems I produce making a strong effort...

Re: Gone Gold becomes addicted
You know, Karacan, that was a big selling point for me? A friend had downloaded the demo, but I'm on a very erratic dial-up, and knew the download would be a pain. Then he told me one of the races...

Re: What is exactly the difference in AI settings?
I do not know that I trust the evidence of taking over enemy provinces and finding sites. I find pre-visible sites in independent provinces as well, but do not seem to find pre-visible sites at all...

Re: What is exactly the difference in AI settings?
And while we're talking about the differences between AI and human players, does the AI have to search for magic sites? I would swear he flings his resources entirely into huge armies of low-level...

Yeah. They will show up spontaneously as between-turn events, and attack a specific horror-marked character. Generally lesser horrors, but it doesn't matter much. No matter who you are, you're...

Re: A few very newbish questions
1) ...technically, yes. It's the option 'Map Editor' from the first screen. However, it's a wee bit buggy/technical. You already have to have made the map as a 24-bit .tga file (I believe there's...

I've been playing around with building them on the cheap recently, so I can answer these questions.
Yes, the contract goes to the lab when made, and can be slapped onto any...

Re: Bet the CGW review helped.
I found the game to be extremely swift to figure out - at least in terms of the basics. I downloaded the demo, and (with particular gratitude to the between-turn tips) figured out most everything...

Re: Aim: does it apply to javalins?
Would the effect 'show' anyway? I've noticed that most spells affecting a unit don't make a visible change when you click on them. It seems inconsistent.

Well, not quite EVERYTHING - but I've only had a horror attack once.

And yes, I'm saying SCs are not all that. They were the first direction I moved in - I love building magic items. Then I learned the hard way that any decently large army will mow a SC down, if by...

Re: What do you think about ermor in dom2
I don't know I want to weigh in on whether death magic is strongest. I'll grant this - Burden of Time against an enemy that's not prepared to dispell it can be a game ender.
Ashen empire is...

As a GREAT fan of blood magic, I promise you that none of the 'boss' demons are so tremendously powerful in combat. They're more useful for leading other demons around, or because they can summon...

Re: What are the strongest summons?
The game SAYS Cthugul the Stargazer is a good summoner. I've personally gotten much, much better results from standard Illithid priests.
It's interesting that there's a non-race-specific site for...

Although I've seen some oddities myself in this vein. I had an army of illithids paralyze a dragon in the first round of combat, destroy all of his troops, run up to finish him off by hand - and...

Re: Possible to delete, disband, or otherwise voluntarily kill a unit?
Oh, I love Flagellants. They're SO useful for patrolling. Of course, I'd rather something free of upkeep like undead or clockwork soldiers do the job, but when you're a blood mage you take whatever...

Very strange. In my experience sending a spy into the enemy's home base is a surefire way to lose him. A mere 25 provincial defense has demonstrated itself time and again to me as a near-universal...

Re: Isn\'t undead a bit too powerful?
I know from playing C'tis (haven't gotten to Ermor yet) that a nice, fat level 5+ antipriest or two can make it very hard to banish undead. And it really only takes a few provinces with an...
