Re: National start and end dates

I still maintain that a lower morale and experience value spread for a very late war / post war Germany is believable whether victorious or not. It may help to offset the technological advantages...

Re: National start and end dates

Gotta ask what you adjusted it all to? I'm curious :) And quite eager for the mod!

Re: "Enjoy the War."

Absolutely, its much better to throw the fight than to wreck your core forces. Not that you shouldn't try for the objectives, but if it means sacrificing your core veterans its just going to make...

Re: What future for Steel Panthers?

The only other series that ever came within an inch of capturing the same feeling for me was the Close Combat series. But that series has always suffered from too many different design visions and...

Re: "Enjoy the War."

Finally pushed past Kiev and well into October now. Had an extremely nasty Delay night battle in the rain with no moon! (visibility 1!) That was an ugly one, T-34's popping up everywhere and no...

Re: What future for Steel Panthers?

Wargaming of this kind will always survive as it traditionally has: as a specialist periphery. But that may mean your favorite titles (Steel Panthers etc) may not get a new installment for a long...

Re: What future for Steel Panthers?

SSI does not exist anymore per se. However, you are correct that the copyright holders (Ubisoft) would have to be contacted and negotiated with; something I'm not sure they want to commit to in the...

Re: "Enjoy the War."

I noticed in your thread you certainly seem to have an enthusiastic following (even if I cannot really tell what anyone is saying! I don't speak German sadly). I've toyed with buying a...

Re: "Enjoy the War."

Yeah, my own infantry have to "hide with pride" in the woods or rough terrain even when they have tellermines or grenade bundles. I use smoke grenades liberally to break line of sight and get on the...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

Oops, forgot East Germany was GDR! I'm more of a World War 2 guy than Modern truth be told :) And I forgot Austria changed infantry colors. Is West Germany still the only one that has the grey...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

Hey Monty, I have a suggestion. Why not just use Austria in addition to Denmark? It kills two birds with one stone: a surviving Greater Germany, Nazi or not, would likely still control that...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

Might have to take it on the chin with this one. You're using the German ORBAT, right? Though I don't know of a solution for pushing back until 1950's, at the very least I'd think you can probably...

Re: biplanes as level bomber?

Yeah, I agree with you on that. But still an easy correction using Mobhack if it bothers you that much.

Re: biplanes as level bomber?

I think this is mostly a non-issue as the level bombers in this game rarely hit anything, at best conduct recon by indiscriminate blasting and frankly just are not practical for anything outside of...

Re: warhammer 40k - MBT?

It does prevent allied scenarios but I'm just not sure that its avoidable with this engine. And yeah, what you mentioned is exactly what I was talking about, undesirable behaviors. :D

I imagine...

Re: warhammer 40k - MBT?

I've long thought that Steel Panthers would be well suited to at the very least representation of the Imperial Guard, and perhaps small squads of Space Marines. But it would be an awful lot of...

Ts4EVER, I remember playing the original Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942. I don't know if you were with the team then, but I'm glad to hear that you guys are still alive and kicking :) You...

Re: "Enjoy the War."

Yeah, the morale bonuses for the SS are about the only real reason to use them. They're not much better than regular Grenadiers besides that. Still, if your scouts can find the enemy first you can...

Re: "Enjoy the War."

You know, with my Japanese campaign I'm suspecting I'll appreciate night assaults and advances much more than I do as the Germans. The way I play the game is almost totally different.

I have a...

Well, I'm glad your time in the service remained peaceful. It would not have been much fun for anyone if it had been otherwise. :) And yes, I've got Korsun pocket and Bagration to look forward...

You're absolutely right, its more important to have fun than to adhere blindly to historical convention. Also interesting to hear that you served, I notice an awful lot of vets seem to really enjoy...

Re: HD combat in Syria

Well ideally your infantry ought to be rooting out and spotting ATGM teams /before/ they get to shoot, but that might be a little old fashioned thinking on my part ;)

I agree that once the missile...
