Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

I used to have 'Air Assault on Crete' when I was at school, by Avalon Hill (published late 1970's?)If I remember rightly it had a invasion of Malta game too. If only I knew then what I know now...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

Wow - that's quite a ride! Feel sorry for the poor (German?) civilians being buzzed, don't think they would be allowed to do NoE flying over populated parts of UK.

P.S. are you sure its a Brit...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

In my opinion SF machine guns, manned by good troops, should be able to mostly stop leg infantry movement, in good visibility and in open terrain, at about 400 yards at the very least, ie, infantry...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

I think you could make a fairly strong case that attack helicopters in the game are not vulnerable enough to AAA and manpads certainly. That would also serve to make them less effective against more...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

Attack helicopters, with cannon, should, most certainly, IMHO, be more deadly to infantry, than they are now in the game, SF Machine Guns should, again in my view, make it a lot harder to move than...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

The best place to keep up to date with everything about the Royal Navy including the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers:

A search on that site will give...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

You can launch some conventional aircraft off a carrier with a ramp, trouble is they cannot carry all that much weight in terms of fuel and weapons.

To land them on again you need arrestor wires. ...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

If by "multi-deck capable" you mean able to launch and land standard Carrier aircraft such as F18 Super Hornet, sadly you are wrong. At one stage the British Government decided to fit 'cats and...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

I am not sure any air force needs almost any new aircraft 'forcing down their throats'. It is just new and shiny and sure I may be being a little biased against air forces.

F-35 is often sold...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Looking at this from a British point of view (and UK has actually put a lot of money into F-35)

I see an aircraft that is vital to the new Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers, because those carriers,...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

Agree with Suhiir on MG's

Even a relatively primitive attack helicopters, with MG's, could really wreck an enemy force if they have low training/moral and lack effective AA, such as Manpads.

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Hopefully it will be a case of 'Semper Fi'. Saw him answering questions from assorted US Marines on a USMC YouTube channel (easy enough to find) and from that he came across as professional,...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

With reference to STOVL F-35B. I think we can consider it fairly safe not to be cancelled now, given the new US Secretary of Defense is a Marine and the USMC really want that aircraft, alongside the...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

For what it is worth I think attack helicopters are a little too good against AFV's and a little less effective than they should be against infantry.

Royal Navy 'wish list'

I thought some people on here might be interested in this article, aimed at filling in some of the holes in the Royal Navy (including Royal Marines and Fleet Air Arm that directly come into the...

Re: Other games you've played that you like

I very much doubt China would have much interest outside China. Napoleon (post Empire) works very well. the CA, Total War 'Warscape' engine struggles a bit with hand to hand combat, not shooting.

Re: Other games you've played that you like

The other games I like are Total War Napoleon, and, to a lesser extent, Rome 2 and Atilla by Creative Assembly. Napoleon TW (especially with Darth Mod) has a nice balance between musket armed...

End date 2030, 100 years...

The reason I say that is that that would have SG WWII - MBT covering 100 years or, to put it another way, roughly the difference in time between the battle of Waterloo in 1815 and the Somme in 1916,...

Re: Preventing AI Suicide?

Agreed, but the trouble is the AI cannot use it with any common sense, so, IMHO, it would be better if AI vehicles all just moved more slowly. Another thing that might help a little would be to make...

Re: Preventing AI Suicide?

I think the way the AI handles an infantry + armour attack is the least realistic thing in the game.

If the Brits are the AI side in WWII an infantry + armour attack can more or less work, if you...

Re: Preventing AI Suicide?

I have always found the AI is not too bad in dug in defence (other than random initial positioning that tends to be more or less pretty awful).

The AI is less good at delay scenarios and bloody...
