Re: Insta-rout?

I have been playing this or any SP variant for quite a long time, and I tell you it's not the least bit normal, especially for an elite unit. If this were a 30 rate morale unit that "might" be...

Re: Insta-rout?

Uh-oh, I have a suspicion what may had caused this. This or the prior turn I had accidentally renamed a unit to nothing. For example "E2 " without quotes. The unit which routed was the E2 unit....

Insta-rout?

Here's one I have never seen before.

I selected an SS infantry platoon in this first battle of the long campaign and fired with it at a scout squad of the Poles. The unit fired and caused no...

Re: Reaction Fire Filtering

Okay thanks. So all this does is give the human a further advantage. I guess that's not so bad if you wish to re-create suffering from a hordes attack, and your side is the more highly trained,...

Reaction Fire Filtering

I know this is really early, but I'm wondering if anybody can tell me just how revolutionary this filtering method is to the game while the enemy has the turn. I plan to find out for myself in...

Re: Great New Features

Oh, that's the key Andy, I didn't see it linking elsewhere. It's interesting I would see the bit about the AI using it but not that announcement. I had to dredge up that old thread to find that link...

Re: Great New Features

Here is the place where I found out about this, though I sure didn't see this at home, but then I wasn't trying this link. It sure wasn't in the manual. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be in this winSPWW2...

Re: Great New Features

Where do you see the opfire options? I thought it was an aid to get players a bit of control over the reactive fire that goes on, particularly when the AI is playing it's turn, but I saw nothing in...

Re: Spotters - One more from an old WinSPmbt playe

I wouldn't be too entirely sure that the game is designed to mimic the real WWII. If the AA guns are one of their better units, and they aren't that expensive, I would be buying quite a bit of them...

Re: Strategy for taking out big AT guns

That makes the decision more difficult. I think I shade back towards the 36 then, as it will be needed to bring down at least 3-4 T34's or KV's per battle.

Re: Strategy for taking out big AT guns

vic: Thanks for explaining about the 88's differences. AT first I was going to tell you the 36 is better, and that I indeed do buy it, because I use the gun in limited ways. Typically I might place...

Re: Armor penetration values

I'm not too sure about this game, but SPWAW had other things to help out the accuracy, such as the optics ratings for the guns, so I imagine this game does too.

Re: opportunity fire

Woah Nellie! I had no idea that his opfire filtering was a link. Now that ought to make for some intelligent opfire.

Re: opportunity fire

Thanks for trying to find the time frame. What is one of the gameplay major differences you guys were trying to change? I mean, it seemed to me there was some bug that you were going to try to fix,...

Re: opportunity fire

Any idea when SPWW2 gets the next patch? I have been putting off playing it because I was expecting another patch, and didn't want to restart a long campaign if I did. I'm just hoping the patch comes...

Re: opportunity fire

Oh, it's not necessarily a bad thing, in fact from the human POV it made the game more involved and less boring than SPWW2, or at least so it seemed when for a good many months I was playing that...

Re: opportunity fire

He may mean in the SPWAW style, which involves the user possibly taking an active part in the target selection when it's the computer's turn, as opposed to the SPWW2 style of the computer controlling...

Re: Smoke dischargers

I haven't played the game in a while, but I believe if you pull the unit up in the description screen (where it shows armanent and such) that there is a box to check to turn it off and on.

Re: New Arty Routine

BigJim: I see now that you have figured out your problem, and the remedy is all too apparent, but I would like to add just off the cuff that playing a map with the height of 200, adds a whole new...

Re: New Arty Routine

It's a real shame that he over-reacts to when the AI does hit his unseen troops or that he thinks things were as the old SP was, because this game is much better than either.

One of the things I...

Re: New Arty Routine

The only evidence that suppression favors the AI, comes from just giving the AI the side that is less susceptible to it, such as an AI Germany against the USSR or France. Most of my games have been...

Re: And now ? (WinSP dreams)

Yes, well it's somehwat a bit silly to always assume that the weapon of choice can reach into the next hex, but that is how the game is designed it seems. It seems a stronger case could be made that...

Re: And now ? (WinSP dreams)

Ah, good, I had not noticed the difference in the two assault treatments since you mentioned that.

It would seem the only way you could to some degree solve the smoke wall would be to have either...

Re: And now ? (WinSP dreams)

Sorry I'm a bit late for this, but your point number 3 isn't really a point as I see it. Let me explain. Sure it's nor accurate that the smoke is an inpenetrable shield but then again look at SPWAW...

Re: Engineers clearing own mines/wire/DT\'s

I know I have often did this in various SP games, where I position infantry or engineers beside my mines. It's a great way to destroy armor that gets immobilized for one. For another it makes it...
