British Army West Africa 2000

Documentary about the British Army in West Africa in 2000

Cannot say I was all that impressed by the Major in command of the original patrol getting them captured.

Re: British Army Orbat C.2020-25

Please note I buggered up the original orbat slightly and have now corrected it (thanks to a friend of mine).

It seems the Armoured Div will have 2 X Chally 2 regts, 4 x Warrior 2000 batts and,...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Yes I thought it was too heavy for Atlas, but, perhaps, C-17 could carry one. Cool, UK could, perhaps, move eight of them a day. Much of the size and weight seem to have been about surviving...

Re: Medium Weight 'air portable' Armour

Re: Medium Weight 'air portable' Armour

Here is one possible parallel: The Royal Navy has, for years now, been against Corvettes, or even highly capable Patrol ships, because senior Admirals worry that political types will then try...

Re: Medium Weight 'air portable' Armour

Low velocity 90mm rounds could certainly take out T54/55's and even T62'S on occasion.

Lower caliber rounds could maybe eventually knock out heavy enemy armour, one way or another, but you only...

Re: Everything you could ever want to know about FRES and Ajax

The above article is a long one, but well worth reading, especially in the light of UK buying the Boxer APC. If such huge amounts of wasted time and money were not involved it would be hugely...

Re: British Army Orbat C.2020-25

UK faced exactly the same problem in WWI, with the added difficulty of losing most of its trained and experienced officers and men in 1914-15 and that was, at least partly, responsible for the...

Re: British Army Orbat C.2020-25

Indeed. The British Government has said it aims to be able to maintain a 'divisional sized force' overseas in a "sustained operation". Although the British Army, then with more men than it has now,...
