You could also try to fight in nebulas, shield aren't as effective.
Fighting a war of attrition against a maintenance free opponent isn't a good idea IMO. You will lose units also and still pay to...

If you have a speed advantage and can get the first shot in, I think there is nothing better than Null Space weapons. You take out components with every hit.
The reload rate is the only drawback....

PPB's have a short range. Try to build some ships with Wave Motion Guns as stay at max range. Another possibility is Null Space weapons, skips shields and armor.

That way you could test and edit your scenario. Designing an interesting scenario in one pass is hard.

You could make every tech racial specific. It would just be a tremenous amount of work assign each tech to various races. It would be very interesting though.

I should have said size/damage. I'm not sure on cost.
Too bad you can't change the reload rate on a mount, that would give a distinct choice between sizes.

How come there are no "negatives" to the mount sizes? The cost/damage ratio gives more bang for the buck but shouldn't there be some drawback for using the larger mount? As it is there is no reason...

There seems to be a lot of problems with adding new race traits. I think MM should just add about 20 empty race traits that could be renamed/used. Then all the .emp file would work as new traits are...

That's a good idea. I also like the suggestion of branching research trees for items, like higher ranged, more accurate or more damaging weapons.
Anything that gives the game more variety is good...

I think the MOO2 system provided more variety even if there were less total techs to choose from. You had to make an irrevocable choice. After that, trade was they only way to get additional techs....

I wish the master computer could be changed to only replace the bridge and life support. Somehow I have a hard time figuring out where all my pilots live on my master computer equipped carrier ...

How about scaling engines too. This would eliminate some of the complaints about engine size. DN engines that provide more power (movement) but guzzle supplies and take up a lot more space.

The reason I mentioned this is that there was a thread aearlier this month where someone had the Allegience Converter work on ships with intact master computers. The thread is called Bugs.
