I just installed Dominons2 on my mac. Works very well but I can't figure out where are the map files and how to install new ones. I've been searching my hard drive for them unsuccessfully ! Please help me.
On Linux and Windows systems, the maps are located in /maps in the Dominions install directory. I don't know MacOS, but they should be in the same directory?
To install new maps you just need to put the .tga and .map in the maps directory. (or just the .map if it uses an existing .tga)
I assumed that. But there is no map folder in my dominions directory. Even weirder, I searched for .map and .tga files on my hard drive and I can't find any - so i wonder where the maps used by the game are located.
They are hidden inside the application "bundle" or "package". Basically, an OS X application is really a disguised folder. Searches do not go into these packages.
Control-click on the dom2 application and choose "show package contents". Then navigate Contents-->Resources-->maps.
BTW, for any Mac folks who read this thread, dom2.16 works fine for me (so far) in OS X 10.4 (on a 400Mhz G3, 384Mb iMac).
I would recommand putting the map folder in the doc or creating an alias, as it is realy tedious to search in the package every time you want install a new map.
2.16 doesn't work right for me at least two times now the shortcuts didn't function (i, e, r,d or x won't do anything) I'm on a 1.8G5 iMac with Mac OS X 10.3.8.
