Honorverse
I know many of us have probably read books in the Honor Harrington series...
Has anyone started on any mod or models for this universe of space combat....?

Re: Honorverse
I believe Phoenix-D had started work on a HH mod some time ago.

Re: Honorverse
As a side note, said mod should never be mentioned to DW, as he would most probably then have to take legal action. He's serious about stuff like that; no fan fiction is allowed in his forum, nor does he read it. Stems from a case where a writer lost control of his works due to fan-fiction.

Re: Honorverse
Or just that seeing any fan fiction reminds him of how easy it is to knock out a HH plot:
Take a charcter who's never wrong, surround with senior officers/politicans who are wrong. Chuck in evil/incompetent/stupid liberals and a superior sized enemy. Leave to boil and then finish off with a large bloody space battles where random bridge officers die like flies and Honor wins just before the re-inforcements arrive.
Nothing wrong with that, I've found them well written and very readable. Tad predictable though.

Re: Honorverse
Thank you...
It just seems that this style of combat, and other such science and background would fit well to a mod for SEIV or SEV....Yet another on my list...really enjoying the books right now...have hunted down a few websites with various info for background and such...

Re: Honorverse
The Baen forums have tons of info. Also, www.thefifthimperium.com.

Well, I can't comment on SE5, but it actually isn't well suited to se4 at all:
1- You can't mod missile pods or LACs properly, because units can't fire seekers in se4.
2- Although Honorverse does have some warp-point like objects in it, they rely heavily on "directional" FTL. Impossible in se4.
3- Due to the impeller wedge, Honorverse combat is all about firing angles and facings. Guess what: se4 don't do that.
Of course you can gloss over these restrictions and mod it anyway, but I don't think the end product will "feel" very Honorversey. It will just be basic se4 with the techs tweaked to give a different seeker/ beam/ fighter balance.
That said, it will probably come out closer to the Honorverse than Trek/SW mods are to their respective canons, so ignore me and do it anyway.
BTW, a forum search should yield at least one big long thread on this very subject.

Re: Honorverse
Units can most certainly fire seekers in SE4.
