Wild Hunt?
Ok, so I've searched the forums, manual and wiki quite extensively about this subject but have can't really find any specifics about it other than that it summons the Lord of the Hunt to attack enemy priests.
Since this spell is a little hard to test I'm wondering if anyone could tell me some specifics:
does the lord of the hunt make only one attack per turn?
are more powerful priests targeted first (ie: holy-3 priest)?
has anyone ever had the experience of this spell being useful? (in CBM at least)
thanks

Re: Wild Hunt?
Not sure for the effects, but it's generally seen as not-worth-it, requiring nature gems that usually are better spent elsewhere, and no matter how much you spend on it, well scripted and protected priest/prophet probably can kill the lord and his retinue without too much hassle. One of the more-of-an-annoyance spells than something useful.

Re: Wild Hunt?
Thanks for the quick reply, I know I shouldn't cast it...but its so tempting because of its coolness.

Re: Wild Hunt?
The hunt can make several attacks per turn, but only one of those will be the lord himself. Often it's just wolves or dire wolves or cu sidhe. And if the Lord of the Hunt is killed, the spell ends, which is not too hard to do, as was said.

Re: Wild Hunt?
I have cast it once in SP and I had 3 attacks each turn from it(1 from the Lord of the Hunt, 2 from Dire wolves and regular wolves) also they seemed to love targeting a Basalt King(with a lesser party, not the Lord of the Hunt's) so they kept failing. also against some indy commanders like the Witch Doctors. which leads me to believe that it also attacks sacred commanders not just priests per se. it was a long time ago but I think it also targeted an indy Circle Master(those annoying B2D2 guys, that come along with 2 D1B1 Conjurers) which is neither a priest nor even sacred IIRC, so I don't know what's up with that(assuming my memory doesn't fail me now), but what it definitely means is that it can also attack indies...
so overall its a pretty useless global, too random and can even target indies(but well, indies should be long gone in a MP by the time you can actually get it up), but even than, it targets random priests and sacred commanders anywhere on the map, and will repeatedly fail against tough commanders...

Re: Wild Hunt?
Blackguard, could that have been the spell 'The Kindly Ones' which states that it'll hunt down blood mages and "murderers" (whatever that means)?

Re: Wild Hunt?
no, I mentioned the Lord of the Hunt specifically, which means I'm talking about the Wild Hunt global...
I also tried out the Kindly Ones and it attacked random commanders, not necessarily blood mages...

Re: Wild Hunt?
In SP CBM the AI loves this spell, together with "The Kindly Ones". Mostly an annoyance. Cannot kill the high end ready for combat troops. But behind the lines your weakly outfitted/scripted priest/blood mages die like flies.
Since this spell is a little hard to test I'm wondering if anyone could tell me some specifics:
Now to answer the questions:
--does the lord of the hunt make only one attack per turn?
At least 3. But that is the max I have ever seen used against me.
--are more powerful priests targeted first (ie: holy-3 priest)?
Looks to me that way. Sacreds are also targeted.
--has anyone ever had the experience of this spell being useful? (in CBM at least)
Not really, annoyance mostly.

Re: Wild Hunt?
The Kindly Ones is harder to defend than Wild Hunt, but makes less attacks.

Re: Wild Hunt?
I cast this in Betelgeuse2 turn ~45 to try it out and announce war with everyone. It was dispelled (not defeated iirc) ~8 turns later but ended up being totally worth it as it took out most of the prophets in the game. I did end up short on Nature gems so I probably shouldn't have done it.
