Default favorite mod?

just curious what your favorite mods are. i havent tried any except Ultimate Mod, which i modified further. i dont have huge amounts of time to play, but was wondering what mods were the toughest, interesting, and most important, fun.

I reccommend trying Pirates & Nomads.
Best with other humans, of course, but you can merge the TDM modpack races in too.

Just use my AI patcher, and until I can update the patcher, you'll have to add energy stream research to phased weapons research calls on the AIs that use 'em.

To maximize the interesting/challenging/fun aspect, play as a Pirate or Nomadic race (medium/small universe, some AI bonus, any amount of racial points) for the first time.
(Be sure to use all the cheap tricks in the book, or the AI's will walk all over you )

Note: the current AI patcher is not fully compatible with GOLD, but works fine with Classic.

My vote would have to go to Pirates & Nomads as well.

(That is until the B5Mod * Sci-Fi crossover mods are finished )

P&N is great. Being a pirate or nomad is about as hard as it gets without turning on the cheats for the AI's in Zippy's mod. Zippy's mod is ok. Needs some balancing but still a good idea as is the D-Mod and Ultimate Mod and Ed and Lee's Mod (OK). Ultimate is great, btu far from done, i'd be interested to see what you have there. Also there are several nice scenarios chess (SJ, ai sucks at playing this, dont' even try), homecoming (really good, SJ again), Awakening, Voyager (a little different but good anyway i think u need trek mod or something not sure) and the Scenario by some guy and its called Campaign 1. Pretty easy but with some work it could be great, nice ideas but you have too huge an advantage over hte AI to begin with. my vote still goes iwth P&N and the homecoming scenario.

Also i was thinking of a fleet battles scenario with a massive fleets (0 maint) and 2 or more players who would go at each other. But that brings me back to my cold war scen... which i won't go on about till i actually do something, its starting to look like a mod too, so to all authors who made the ULtimate mod, P&N, Ed and Lee's, D-Mod, and Zippy's i would like to use parts of your mods in creating really a mod only for use with this scenario but i guess it coudl be done from the start. I will give credit don't worry and if you don't want me to use your ideas i wont'.

an oldie but goodie, my money is still on the devnull mod. not so great for the ai, but awesome with humans.

for strong AI, go with TDM, and if desired implement AI cheats such as super-cultural-bonuses for the AI.

LOL, I got distracted, and ended up squinting at a tiny "post a message" box inside the little post-review window of the "post a message" screen, all without realizing what I was doing until I'd finished the post!

Anyways, I've sent you a PM, Skulky (check "my profile")
