Which UI Looks Better?
Tell me which of these two UI's looks better. This will effect which one I choose for the UI mod for the full game (the demo is almost done).
Trek UI - Metal Border
Trek UI - Digital Border
EDIT - OK, it's not the first poll in this board. I missed the one on multi-player that came out many moons ago.

Re: Which UI Looks Better?
I vote for the digital border. You might try some other colors (pastels are traditionally used to compliement the brighter LCARS colors, and would go better than that drab green), but that one still looks better to me (anything but that plain metal border)! Also, the pink (transparent) color is misleading to viewers who might think that is what it would look like in the game.
P.S. You should convert those to .gif or .jpg format if you can for posting. Some browsers don't like .bmp format, and it takes dial-ups a lot longer to load those babies.

Definitely change the border's colour before using it.

Re: Which UI Looks Better?
Hmmm... the vote is 10-2 for the metal border (I know digital has 3, but one of them is mine - I voted just to be able to see the results). I think I see a pattern here...
Well, it's just about done. I'm still doing some tweaks (fixing text overlaps, display contradictions, etc). I hope to have the final Version out in a day or so. The UI for the full game will follow just as soon as the game disc arrives in the mail.
[EDIT - 12-2 now. I hope the "digital UI" fans don't call for a recount... ]

Re: Which UI Looks Better?
I wouldn't give up on the digital Version. Just give it some better colors, and I'll bet some would change their vote!

The colours of the digital one are hurting my eyes.

Re: Which UI Looks Better?
I had to do some sort of differing colors for both the outer border (the "metal") and the interior boxes. Thinking it over, it probably makes more sense to have the metal borders for most of the screens (representing the "monitor" on which the screen displays). The final Version will have some digital borders - though with different colors. I hope to get this thing punched out tomorrow - if not, due to RL schedules it won't be till Wednesday at the earliest (by which time I'll probably have the full game [knock wood]).
