Sick new facility idea
Take the replicant center, make it produce negative 10M people per turn, and have it produce 10,000 organics
Requires advanced racial trait "Cannibalism"

Re: Sick new facility idea
That would be cool. But it might be smarter to have it activated the same way you activate the resource converter.

Re: Sick new facility idea
Haha - nice idea. Anyone familiar with the old Judge Dredd comics? (NOT the crap film)
In Mega City One resources were so scarce that the deceased were shipped off to Resyk, where a huge machines took them apart bit by bit and reclaimed all their minerals & organic material. I think some of it did end up as food.
Perhaps this could be implemented as a facility which generates organics / minerals but lowers happiness. (because ppl can't resepct their burial rituals.)
Could the production output be affected by population? (ie large pop= more dead bodies= higher output)

Re: Sick new facility idea
solvent green was an old b movie. In this movie-- To control the population and due to lack of food the city of new york (i think) starts feeding the people solvent green. It turns out that they are going around with garbage trucks and gathering up the homeless, rioters, crimals, etc and converting them to solvent green.
You can find this movie in the old/classic section of blockbuster (might have to blow the dust off it.) Or sometimes they show it on the scifi station. Not sure what year it was filmed but it is in black and white.

Re: Sick new facility idea
Sounds like a good film. I remember another Dredd storyline where an entrpreneur (Otto Sump) found a way of turning raw sewage into a healthy foodstuff.
It was really popular until ppl realised what it was made of and then there was outcry. In the end the judges had to ban it, which was funny because it was the first honest, well meaning business idea Sump had ever had.
Of course the judges just produced it themselves and relabelled it and to solve the food shortages...
*new .sig coming soon*

Re: Sick new facility idea
Do the same thing but basically have it produce massive research, kind of like a huge, collective neural net. Just like the Matrix, but instead of using the beings for power (which was a little bit hard to believe) the beings are placed into a huge collective virtual world where some of their subconscious thought patterns are unknowingly skimmed off to create a massive computer net for research.

"Braaaaain! More braaaaaain!"
Another bit -- I'd suspect that such a facility should reduce happiness...

Re: Sick new facility idea
More on the movie _Soylent Green_:
Well, first, that's the title above. Not "Solvent Green." Also, it's based on the novella "Make Room, Make Room!" by Harry Harrison, author of the Stainless Steel Rat Series. I highly recommend the SSR series, though I'll admit I haven't read "Make Room..."

Re: Sick new facility idea
Harrison was a brilliant author, he wrote the Deathworld series, the Eden series, and his Last works, I forget the title, about an alternate european history in which a resurgent paganism vied with christianity for dominance.
Go Pagans!!!
