Quick Question on Unique Summons
What happens if say, you cast Queen of Elemental Air, and all the queens have been summoned? Will the game let you attempt to cast and it then fails, effectively wasting a caster's turn? Do you lose your gems?
Finally, for the vets, about what turn do you expect most unique summons will have been cast?
I am just learning endgame strategies on some of my first MP game, (prolly a little too late )
Thanks!

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
The spell failled, you lose the gems and don't get the queen.
Can't say much about the turn. It really depends.

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
IF you kill one you can re-summon it of course Though it will keep all afflictions [or does it have some chance of losing them like pretender?].

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
Thanks that was what I was afraid too hear.
Even a rough estimate though on turn number would be very helpful before I blow the gems. I am guessing now that the unique summons are one of the items people race for, like the Chalice, which I didn't know when I started the game so chances are I am way behind.
But rough estimates on turn range or even a confirmation that players race for the unique summons would be helpful.
For example one game had ~ 15 players and is past turn 45.
I am guessing way too late?
I guess I should have sought out some thread on endgame strategies, if one exists.

DonCorazon:
I guess 40-60 with normal research. Maybe 30-40 if you rush for it, though people rather get construction 8 and some other stuff before conj8.
P.S. In EpikBattel Machaka and probably Pythium too are playing with Tartarians for around 10 turns already and that is higher than royalty.

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
It depends on how the game has been going. If it's been a bloodfest, and everyone's had a bunch of mages on the front lines just trying to stay alive, then you should have a decent chance at snagging some royalty at turn 45.
Look at the research levels in the charts (if they are on), and see if you can guess whether nations capable of snagging the uniques you want will have conj 8. You can also ask nations you are friendly with if they've got (or seen) the uniques you are interested in.

Well, the Air Queen is (for me) the best of the royals just because of one spell: cloud trapeze.
Turn 45 is really late and i think your chances are <50% but i can't say more. It depends on leading nations, players, luck, etc. Maybe you should give it a try, if there isn't a big alternative for your air gems.

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
Thanks guys. I think I probably missed the boat on this. I have level 9 in one school and high level in some others and on the research graphs at least 2 other players are in my league, so guessing the royalty are long gone. Next time I will know better.

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
They are not necessarily gone, and it depends on the priorities and capabilities of the other nations. They may be thinking the same as you. Like calmon says, if you don't have another more pressing use for your air gems, it will not hurt to try.

Re: Quick Question on Unique Summons
I would try it. It is not super late, and of course there are 3 queens - someone will have had to pump in 150 gems to get all three, which is no small amount.
