Confused about Bless effects

I have a question about Bless effects.

I only get these when I Bless sacred troops with at least level 4 correct? If I bless troops with a priest (my Pretender is not in the battle), the Pretender is level 4, but the priest is not, do I get the bless effect? How about if the Pretender is level 4 but dormant?

All that matters is that the sacred troops are blessed, and the paths of your pretender at creation. Priest level, presence of pretender, dormancy, etc are irrelevant

Note that your current pretender magic is irrelevant also. So if your magic drops to level 3 because he dies and is brought back, no change. If you empower to 6, no change. You'll have that level 4 bless for the entire game
