				 So these mutes... 
 Alright folks,
 So I have a guy, and he's gone mute (the one that halves all magic paths). he had 3 in death magic, so now his silent self has 2. I'd quite like him to have 3 in death magic again, so that he can get back on the soul vortex.
 
 Now when I give him a booster, no effect. 3+1=4 4/2=2 so the booster doesn't work. fine. what I'm wondering is, if I give him a crystal shield, is that going to be the same deal? seems like in the heat of battle they might not bother with fancy math and just make it so he had D2 that battle. + PotS = 3. Does anyone know if this is true?
 
 I could run a test, but debug mod has no way to mute people. so it would be quite a bother. much better if someone knows off the top of their head...

 booster does work.  rounds up.  probbly same w/ shield

 I'd guess that irregardless of where he is the calculation for his levels would be the same, but that is just a guess.
 How about using two boosters?
 
 So 3+2/2 = 2.5, 2.5 rounds up to 3.
 
 If you have time (in the game your playing) to test in a safe way, send the guy in scripted at the rear and set to immediately retreat.
 
 I guess from the context of your thinking you have not however reached Con-6 yet?

 fair enough, I guess if no one comes through one way of the other I will just go the  crystal shield + booster route at the end one the day.
 Wait, con. 6 I was thinking conj. 6 and was quite confused. I do have Con. 6, 8 in fact, thus the 'book of being totally evil' or Tome of the Lower Planes.

 Assuming this guy is a thug or SC, you might be better off sending a scout with him carrying some death gems, and pass him one when he needs to soul vortex.

 hmmm, fair point, actually...
 I think that is what I'll do. forgot about the gem=level effect when I was stratagising this one. silly me...

 Even with Soul Vortex up, I'd hesitate to send a thug with a Crystal Shield, +10 fatigue is brutal. If that's all he casts he'll be at 50+ fatigue to start and will likely die to a critical hit before the vortex can fix him up. |
