Default score

we have a game which is set to 300% of second players score.
the first player already has twice the score of the second player, and is still climbing fast. but second place is prety close to the third and forth.

what is the best way to increase score?
what is the best way to decrease anothers score?

does stored resorces increase score?
or is it only resorces prodused?
does resorces from trade count?

is ship tonage worked out by how much tonage on each ship, or from the size of the ship hull?
(ie will makeing large ships with only bridge, crew and life increase score faster than building fully functional warships?

Ships (and bases) are the biggest thing.
Fastest way to reduce his score is to kill ships.

The game probably counts the hull size, so useless B/LS/CQ "training simulator" Baseships would be a quick way to boost score. Easy to kill if the enemy every gets a ship to them, though.

It could be either the cost or the hull size that is taken into account. (Edit) According to a post by Ruatha on the NGC3 forum, it is the hull size that is used to calculate the score. (I would have expected the game to use the actual cost of the ships, to prevent the player from building the ships SJ aluded to. )

However, at any rate, it is indeed ships that matters as far as score is concerned. Destroy a lot of his ships and you will be fine. (I lost 300,000 points when I lost 50 carriers or so against Geoschmo. Or perhaps even more points. So it should help)

Here is what should be the way score is calculated :
Every point of minerals, organics, and radioactives, generated counts as one score point. Every point of research and intelligence generated counts as one score point.
Each kt of your ships and bases counts as 10 points.
Each level of researched techs counts for 200 points.
No points for units/pop/colonies/systems.

That is a rather gamey tactic, so you want to consider your reputation before doing something like that...

I completely agree here.
If you find your opponent has been doing something like that, you should avoid playing score-victory games against them.
If you know them personally, slip a lump of coal under their tree with three sticker-icons (B/LS/CQ) on it in about a month

I thought Units counted for score. While I never did detailed calculations. I always found my score jumping whenever I got troops and started building then. Almost always it would send me into first place and galactic evil.

Is this a difference between solo and PBW games?
