Im not sure if anyone has tried it but as I understand things all he has to do is zip up the game directory to send to you.
If your computer has already received the information that he is computer controlled then you might not even need that. You have the game directory. Open dommap normally and select it as a game already in play. It might let you go ahead and host turns. If it says anything about waiting for his turn file then you might need him to send you the game dir off his machine.
