Anyone out there play Blood of Humans? Why?
Anyone? I cant figure it out.
The other "themes" seem to offer lots of neat flavor on the primary default theme, some offer more stealth, others change the scales a lot, others have even more radical changes, but all are fun.
Except Abysia Blood of Humans. Now you can throw eggs at me, but I just don't get it.
No more demonbreds. But you get a Newt. The lowly Newt is the ONLY magic user and the ONLY commander (exception: the "commander" commander) not restricted to the capital only. I don't understand that. That puts a big damper on flexibility.
No more Lava Warriors, or Salamanders. But you get ... Infantry. I dont get it. I would have understood Blood of Humans had the fictionalization included something like "In the time of the dwindling of the heat of the Smouldercone, some humans have learned the technique of harvesting wood products" and had given at least a few people some Javelins. Or something ranged.
So I see a lot less flexibility and nothing really new, except for the Newt.
Balance issues totally aside (that is NOT the point, but I find BoH to be weaker, but I am sure I am playing them incorrectly -- the other Posts on Blood of Humans were all about balance issues), I'd sort of like to see more variability, or "flavor", because the themes are usually just so ... neat.
So obviously I am missing something. Can anyone clue me in?

Yup, it's boring. Good things comes to those who waits (for upcoming patches).

While I generally agree that IW does a decent job with patches, I can't say I'm unconditionally enthusiastic about them. The LAST patch, after all, broke a bunch of stuff, and required extensive arm-twisting before I could even get it to WORK finally. Grah. I hope this next patch will not be a repeat of that.

Re: Anyone out there play Blood of Humans? Why?
The latest patch has been stable (so far, at least; we just got it for testing) and includes some really good things, including the one major item that has always topped my own list of issues. We've also added some new beta-testers to make sure that Dom II's ever-growing mass of content can get as thorough a going-over as possible with each new patch.
Nobody's reporting any crashes or other major issues (although there are still minor ones such as typos and such), so it should be very stable for folks by the time it is released (barring those who might try installing it over a cracked copy or some such, of course).
