2.11 question

I've been away for a while because I had to move (changed to a different university), and I don't have internet at my new home yet. (well, dialup, and rather expensive...).

Will the 2.11 patch give me any problems when it can't connect to Illwinter? Or do I have to establish a dialup connection, start the game, and then shut the connection down again?

I fully understand the reasons behind this verification, and if I may suggest: Do it like Stardock. Patch only available for download if you enter a valid CD-Key at the Illwinter site.

Apparently the check is only needed when you play multiplayer across the net. So if you cant connect to do one then you dont need to worry about the other.

As to the stardock method (no problem with people making suggestions like this) it would have to be a Shrapnel server rather than an Illwinter one. And I havent heard how effective Brad feels the stardock method is.
