best VQ SC race?

What is the strongest race for the VQ SC? What magic areas are key?

Depends. The non-vanilla Ermors appear to be strong for the VQ, as is Ulm. I'm sure everybody has their own picks though.

Well, to get the strongest SC, in theory you'd want the most points for the SC, so in theory you'd want a nation that doesn't suffer much from really bad scales, so Ashen or SG Ermor, Carrion Woods, Desert Tombs would be candidates. However, a clever player who appreciates that a VQ is not the ultimate weapon for all purposes, might choose a nation that is strong by itself, and only take the most wanted paths for the VQ, and more balanced or advantageous scales.

Desert Tombs suffers from bad scales as much as anyone else.
