No, I think its trying to access hardware directly and doesn't like WinXPs "simulation" of direct hardware access.(I have WinXP home)

Re: OT: Anybody got Daggerfall to run on WinXP?
I loved this game long ago, perhaps I should give it a go again and let you know if I get it working on my XP Pro box. There is something to be said about stealing from the store at night and selling the stolen merchandise back to the same store the next day.

Re: OT: Anybody got Daggerfall to run on WinXP?
LOL, I loved the incredibly huge random dungeons that they would have.
I never could steal very successfully because while I wouldnt get caught and would rise to decent lvls in the mage and fighter guilds with some standing in the temple - they always gave me the "Your standing is not high enough" and guards would chase me down on sight. So I only used security in the Dungeons

Thanks. I couldn't find that link on the main site so I thought it had expired.

Re: OT: Anybody got Daggerfall to run on WinXP?
I'd like to get it working on XP Pro myself, I really miss this gem of a game. The whole stealing and selling to the same store trick made me laugh so many times I still think its funny. And the cries of "Halt! Halt!" filling the air, ahh those were the days...back when I played Space Empires 2.

Re: OT: Anybody got Daggerfall to run on WinXP?
I seem to recall I had it working under XP. But it could have been with the old Win 98 instead. If it did work with XP, it required to trick Daggerfall into not detecting Windows, and then all was fine.
I am pretty sure it was with XP though, since 98 has disappeared from my computer a long while ago. Of course, if I am the only one getting Daggerfall to work on XP, then I guess it means I am quite mistaken.
