Confusion now that I have 2 races....
Well I have finally captured my first AI race!! Wohoo!! Seems that there were a few small colonies that I'd missed that survived my viscious conquests.
So.... now I have received their ability to colonize rock worlds.
So.... how do I tell when a world is marked green if that means I have to spefically colonize with the newly conquered race or if I can use my home race?
Is there an easy way to do this or do I have to check the planet type each time?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Confusion now that I have 2 races....
a few more questions... If the air is not naturally breathable by either of my races, I suppose it makes no difference which one I colonize it with since they will both be domed? i.e. whether it is a rock or gas giant planet doesn't matter, just the atmosphere type?
Last question: Is there an easy way to tell by looking at the map which planet is colonized by which race? Or do you have to select each planet and check?
Ok, one more question: If a planet is colonized by one race, can you transport further population of another race to the smae planet? basically can you mix races on a planet?
Thanks,
Ken

One Last comment/question: So as I see it, the only planets you really need to concern yourself with which race to use to colonize it, would be ones with green pluses? the ones wit red pluses you could use either race without worries?
Thnaks yet again,
Ken

Re: Confusion now that I have 2 races....
If neither race can breath the atmosphere type it doesn't matter which race has the most population on the planet, you can mix races on a single planet, and I enjoy doing so.
The benefit of mixed races it that if you use the "Upload cargo" button you can choose which racial to put on a colony ship, plus aiens tend to revolt less if mixed with a good dose of your own people.
You can tell what race(S) have colonized a planet by way of small racial pictures located with the planetary information, if you right click on these pictures you can even call up a screen that lets you access information on each of those races.
Remember though, if you want to stay out of domes you MUST have the larger population able to breath the atmosphere, world type doesn't matter here, nor does the fact that the less populous people have to live in domes or use rebreathers or something. lol

They also seem to get happy faster when mixed

Re: Confusion now that I have 2 races....
The green and red starts that denote colonization ability apply ONLY to your own original race. The game does not take into account the fact that you have an additional race to work with. This means that you need to check your planets before colonizing. Or you could colonzie anyways, and then bring up a freighter with the correct race and swap them out...
