OT - Had to Share Some \"Forum Humor\"
Picked this up at another forum I frequent. There, more than here, it's uncannily too true:
"How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb"
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

Hahaha... shall we start this tempting conversation or shall we let it be?

Re: OT - Had to Share Some \"Forum Humor\"
Timstone, I AM a qualified lightbulb changing person. I have all the authorization certificates and diplomas from my 9 years in lightbulb changing school. It really is an art, every single lightbulb brand and wattage has a different style to inserting it into the socket. Some require gentle twisting, others need a violent wrenching motion, others even need a pipe wrench to get those nasty things in!
Turin, my lightbulb, it was a 100 watt, fully polluting, light pollution creating monster of an illuminator!
And Douglas, well I actually like the rotating wrist method. It really is the only way to go
All you grammar Nazi's need to...yes...change more lightbulbs! It is incredibly relaxing. First you smash them, then you get to change them! Relaxation and tension relief all in one

Renegade:
Hahaha... LOL!!!
Okay, I hereby grand you full authority to change light bulbs around the world. You can now change light bulbs in evry country you might want to visit. A good suggestion is to visit Holland and come over to my home and change all my light bulbs. I haven't got many light bulbs (I live under a rock), but I can assure you I have some very exotic viariants.
P.S. Do you have the trademark T-Shirt for an official "Light Bulb Changing Master"?
Edit:
This time I didn't forgot the light bulbs. I even spelled 'light bulb' right every time. Wohoo, progress!

You shouldn't confine your correct spelling to just those two words, you know.

Re: OT - Had to Share Some \"Forum Humor\"
Actually, there is a T-Shirt for a lightbulb changing master such as myself. It says "Burned Out?" on the front, then on the back says, "Call your local lightbulb changing master, 1-250-999-5839"
Oh, and I will be sure to make a stop by Holland, just to change your burned out bulbs!

I tried to read this topic but my brain got stuck on the mini-skirt/ladder thing and everything after that has been a blur...

Re: OT - Had to Share Some \"Forum Humor\"
Oh, do continue!
[Flame on]
You're not qualified to change a lightbulb!! Lightbulbs should always be changed by the appropriate personel. Clearly recognisable by the luminous clothing and the black text on their back, stating: LIGHTBULB CREW, TOO HOT TO HANDLE.
[/Flame off]

Re: OT - Had to Share Some \"Forum Humor\"
Renegade, was it a 40 or a 60 watt bulb? Cuz you know, a compact florescent that's only 18 watts is just as bright as a 75 watt standard bulb. So I hope you were being environmentally responsible and changing the old bulb to a compact florescent...
