Default TrekMod: are ALL races Rock/Oxygen?

I've just started playing my first game using TrekMod and so far all of the 4 or 5 races I've met are Rock/Oxygen. Please tell me this is just a fluke and there's a good variety within the mod.

I have not played the Trek Mod, but I tell you this, when I set up the UCP, I set em up like so:

Klingon / Federation OX Rock
Romulan / Ferengi Methane Rock
Dominion Hydrogen
Borg NONE
Cardassian Carbon Deoxide.

Well, in Trek, all of the main races are oxy breathers, having been "seeded" by the same precursor race.

The tholians are very different, not sure what they do.

Vulcans/Romulans have less oxygen on their world, you could possibly stretch that and make it CO2.

Borg just capture all other races to assimilate, so it dosen't matter what the start with.

The cardies may have screwed up their resource management on the homeworld, but they're still oxy breathers.

In the Trek universe, 95% of known races are oxy/rock. This means more competition for the M-class worlds, and nobody bothers a second look at the hydrogen/gas giant.
A lot of planets are left uncolonized, and your outPosts are all military or mineral (dilithium) miner colonies.

Just accept that that huge methane world will never be as important as the small oxy/rock next door, until you can set up a atmosphere converter.

Its a change from having every world breathable by somebody's colonists, and forces you to build improvements, rather than dropping a different type of colonist.

I play something other than Oxygen, usually Ice/Methane or Rock/Methane (I like purple, what can I say) So if they're all rock/oxygen, everyone else (or at least almost all of them) in my "Trek" Game will be fighting over their R/O planets.

It may be consistent with the Trek universe, but nobody in Trek uses fighters either. I really like that this game has different homeworld types instead of the boring old "everybody's the same" mentality found in so many other games. I was hoping this would be utilized in the mod.

Actually setting up a game where everyone uses the same type of planet and atmosphere can lead to a very interesting situation, espescially if you choose only colonize home planet type AND only colonize breathable atmosphere. Throw in finite resources and you really have to pay attention to everything you do. There will be very few planets to colonize, fleets will be much smaller and every item you build must be well thought out.

What do you mean they don't use fighers in the ST universe? what do you think a shuttle craft is?

DS9 we saw them a lot in the battles with the dominion near the end, espeically in the big one where they came back to take DS9 back.

The idea that none of the races in the ST mod being different makes it boring is wrong, if you want different atmospheres, just don't use the mod, the mod is setup to be like ST ... plain and simple.
