Curious Question: Middle Age Ulm
Why was the resources bonus from the forges of Ulm (From dominions:PPP) removed from the game of Dom:2 and now Dominions 3? The best forges in all the land should most likely produce some extra resources for all that heavy armor,so it is good as a very thematic reason.

Re: Curious Question: Middle Age Ulm
Didn'try it in Dom3 yet, and didn't play Ulm since a long time in Dom2, but I thought the bonus still was in Dom2, wasn't it ?

Re: Curious Question: Middle Age Ulm
Ulm gets a 25% Resource bonus in all castles.
It doesn't stop them from being an underachieving empire in the middle era, but they do get that bonus.

Re: Curious Question: Middle Age Ulm
Ulm did get a pretty good boost from the extra random picks that their master smith's can now get, but I'm not yet sure if it was enough to boost them into contention. If there was some kind of beefy commander that could be summoned with earth magic, then they could be a very powerful nation.

It makes you wonder. They're the best smiths of the MA and yet they can't make any special constructions and such,or special items only Ulm can make and use. I mean those smiths should've learned a few new tricks other then the standard variety of items.

Re: Curious Question: Middle Age Ulm
Take 1 pretender with death magic, add in a few master smiths with dwarven hammers and stir in a little conjuration and construction research and there you go, you have just cooked your first black servant thug raider factory (summon a black servant and give him a horror helm, good shield, heavy armour, boots of giant strength, girdle of might/bear claw talisman and if possible an amulet of luck). Ulm can actually get quite good late game, spamming summoned commanders (poison golems, various death commanders, golems ect) and equipping them with mass produced items from smiths and specialise items from your pretender (ulm rocks with a rainbow mage)

From my limited experience the 10% chance to get a random pick is too little...about 10 out of 100 smithes will have a random, which is better than before but still quite not there.

Re: Curious Question: Middle Age Ulm
The main bonus from the random is being able to forge more items cheaply, it dosnt matter that the majority of your smiths dont get it imo(although it would be nice)
