Knocking out AT and AA guns
I have been doing some unscientific testing to see if a crewed gun can be knocked out with a direct hit on the gun itself. So far I have seen guns destroyed by tank fire, inf fire and artillery, but always by attrition. Once the crew has been killed off then the gun is considered destroyed. Is it possible to get a hit on a crewed gun, destroy the gun and have the remaining crew bail out in the same manner as a tank crew?

Re: Knocking out AT and AA guns
Of course. Especially with large shells. I have done so with SU-152 and in modern it is reasonably common e.g. with Chieftain 120mm.
Sometimes you get a 100% kill - sometimes a crewman or 2 are left.
Cheers

Re: Knocking out AT and AA guns
To add to Mobhack, I have once witnessed even "Gun destroyed" message and the crew survived bar one casaulty. So yes, it is possible, but with good ol' suppression fire you won't make a mistake

Re: Knocking out AT and AA guns
It happens, but not very often. The people around the gun are much more vulnerable then the physical gun itself. Things like shrapnel, richochets, and small calibre projectiles aren't likely to do much damage if any at all to the metal of a gun but they will shred flesh. So usually crew attrition will knock out a gun.

Re: Knocking out AT and AA guns
I've seen this happen relatively often, particularly from HE cannon. Its a real nice touch, makes anti AT gun combat more realistic.
