List of smaller scenarios?
With the release of V3.0 I'm getting back into WinSPMBT after being gone from it for quite a while. Is there a list (updated for v3.0) of smaller scenarios, good for some single player "getting your feet wet" time?
Also, and this is sort of a side question, it there a way to sort scenarios by complexity? In the Talonsoft Campaign series (which I have been tinkering with lately) the game engine gives the scenarios a rating based on number of units. Is there some way a clever utility builder could look at a scenario file and assess that info? The resulting utility could look at the Scenarios directory and build a list of scenarios sorted (or sortable) by number of units. I know ScenHack can decode the units, so it ought to be possible to do this, I'm just getting too old to start fooling with Visual Basic again

Re: List of smaller scenarios?
Just after getting the 3.0 update, i played the scenario 171 "Facing the angry bear" that is set up in 2005.
This scenario is not too long, the battle is not taking place on a huge battle front with hundred of units to manage, and lots of actions.
So if you want to get a smaller SP scenario with troops and tanks, you should enjoy this one, despite it seems you are overwhelmed, your troops actually will surprise you (as long as you don't expose them too much ).

Re: List of smaller scenarios?
Scenario 65 is a small and simple one with only tanks. Makes for a nice practice run.

Re: List of smaller scenarios?
Playing the tutorial again would be a good way to "get your feet wet". I know some of the sceanrios tend to be very large and I would also like to see more "lunch time" smaller ones as well.

Re: List of smaller scenarios?
HI Markgame
I created a couple of smaller scenarios that were released in the latest patch.
They are based around SAS operations and don't have too many units.
They are not easy though :-)
Hold the Fort, The battle at Mirbat.
and
Operation Barras.
Check them out.
Cheers

Don't want to go OT but I played the Mirbat scen last night and struggled to get a Minor Vic, and that just barely. Well done, its a good scenario.
Re: Small Scens
#41 - Viet Village - Basic, quick, and enjoyable.
A lot of Wild Bill's scens are very small and very good. There are a bunch of them grouped together, look at scens 108+.

Hi VDS
Thanks for the kind comment. It was my first attempt. The map is pure guess work but a bunch of detail is spot on..names, weapon etc. That was fub to research
I helped play-test a bunch of scenarios for the Wild Bill team. He is a great designer with masses of cool ideas. He has some great small scenarios, even some where it is one man per hex. Kinda neat games those.
The trick with Mirbat is to pull back in the north, and be VERY careful
Cheers

Re: List of smaller scenarios?
I also found the scenarios start at #088 that are based on the book "Marine Corp Tank Battles In Korea" which by happenstance I am currently reading . The first scenario is nice and small, and the second (089) is pretty good.
I've been away from winSPMBT for awhile, playing a number of other games of divergent genres and intensities. I was pleasantly surprised that when I came back to winSPMBT I still found it to be just as enjoyable as any of the other types of games I play, despite the appalling low system requirements .
A big thanks to all the folks that have made this such an enduringly good game. Obviously so much of the effort is a labor of love to continue improving the game, and many I'm sure are doing it without compensation other than the greatful thanks of fans like me.

Now you tell me.
I'll have to give it another try sometime.
I saw something about this battle on TV, can't remember the name of the show, but it was about the history of the SAS. Amazing story.
Sorry, OT.

Re: List of smaller scenarios?
I remember i really enjoyed Strangling the snake from Wild Bill Rider , a small scenario in Afghanistan that had a lot of replayability due to the different tactics you could use to take the objectives while trying to minimize your casualties.
Now it is included by the patches and is listed at scenario number 108.
