SPWW2 1.1 asks for CD
This is driving me crazy. When I want to run WINSPWW2, it says it doesn't find "WINFX8.DLL" which, for sure, I don't have at my computer.
If I use the SPWW2.BAT file it won't do anything.
If I use DOSBOX it recognizes my soundcard, but then says "Steel Panthers: WW2 needs a CD drive".
Will I ever be able to play it? I simply dont know what else to do...
Thanks

Re: SPWW2 1.1 asks for CD
There is no SPWW2.BAT file in WinSPWW2. I suspect what you have there is an old copy of the DOS game. Where did you DL it from ?

Well, dont ask me how, but finally I was able to play it through the SPWW2.bat file...
Now the question is...what's the winspww2.exe file for?

Re: SPWW2 1.1 asks for CD
Lets start at the beginning
Where did you DL this from?
When it loads what version of the game appears at the bottom of the main screen?
There is NO SPWW2.BAT file in WinSPWW2. None. That was ONLY used in the DOS game and is no longer included in the Windows based game.
WINSPWW2 starts up from the WW2GameOptions.exe.
There is no such file as "WINFX8.DLL" but there IS a WINVFX8.DLL that is included with the WinSPWW2 game

Did you happen to patch or overwrite the DOS version [SPWW2] with the Windows version [WinSPWW2]? You shouldn't need DosBox and there is no SPWW2.bat in the WinSPWW2 version.

Re: SPWW2 1.1 asks for CD
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My fault, I had completely messed the files. I downloaded them in the same dir as an old DOS copy of SPWW2, and so everything was a chaos.
Thanks all for opening my eyes
