How unit points are calculated?
I just started to wonder how unit costs are calculated in this game.
CA infantry team at '73 has 10 men, C1 rifle, C2, M72, hand grenade and costs 22 points.
Soviet infantry section at '73 has 8 men, AK47, RKP, RPG-7, Hand Grenades and costs 24 points.
I believe that CA infantry in this case is more effective because of its 2 men advantage so why it costs less?

Re: How unit points are calculated?
The RPG-7 has more range than the M72. Also check out the ammo loadout for LAW and RPG-7. Usually the units AT weapon makes the difference in cost. If for example the AT weapon is replaced by a sniper rifle, the unit cost goes down a bit.

Re: How unit points are calculated?
I just checked both, and 8 RPG-7 rounds is better (and more expensive) than 5 LAWs. 60 radio points rather than 40 might be part of the explanation as well, though I don't know how that is factored in.
So I think the main difference is in antitank capability.

Re: How unit points are calculated?
SPECIFYING exactly which infantry team or section you are referring and if it's cost is in the game or in MOBHack would be most helpful. The game can be set up in game options to show the unit numbers and if we knew the unit numbers it would make answering questions like this much easier From what I can discover from digging through the OOB's is you are referring to CA unit 80 and SOV unit 117
FYI there are a wide range of factors that make up a units cost and cost is applied equally to all nations ( radio availability is one of them ). The difference between a 40 and 60 radio code would be 1 point and the greater number of RPG rounds would also add to the cost of the Russian unit in the points that show up in MOBHack. The costs are different when bought in the game because the cost shown in MOBHack does not reflect the experience and morale numbers the game uses for the final cost calculation

Yes, of course but in many cases weaponry and the amount of it counts for more. If you REALLY want to see how it can work build some test units with progressively more men and equipment then run it through the cost calculator and see for yourself how the points increase with the various changes

Re: How unit points are calculated?
Loads of things cost points including crew, but there is no point in comparing the cost of 2 items in the game itself, since there may be adjustments for experience or morale etc, as already stated. If you want to look at 2 items, then it is best to look them up in Mobhack, which shows the points cost field at a standard morale/exp level.
Cheers
