Fast Artillery display bug?
Sometimes, with fast arty option on, the screen would shift to where the shells are supposedely falling but would not display any visual effects.
Is this a bug?

Re: Fast Artillery display bug?
It can happen if the piece was plotted (or drifts) out of range - the game engine does not check when adjusting fire, if the new spot is actually in range, same for any drift.
Cheers

Andy:
You´re saying is posible for arty to be plotted out of range? so if fast arty is on you won´t see the shell landing but it will be fired? I mean, does the code takes the shell from the ammo count?

Re: Fast Artillery display bug?
Plot a mortar at near it's max range. Let it complete its mission. Now adjust the fire - the code will let you happily plot the new impact hex beyond effective range. At the firing point, it will (usually in all cases I have observed) - jump to the plotted point then "hiccup". No ammo is fired.
There is no - and never has been - any bounds checking on adjusting fire. Bonus is, if you have a mortar that has managed to get to beyond range (click its name and the HE button is depressed, indicating out of range) - you can adjust back into range (use the adjust button in this case, as you cannot use the HE button). Saves having to replot the entire mission from scratch if you go over range.

Re: Fast Artillery display bug?
I the problem also occured with off-board arties too.
The target zone was definitely within range (about 4km from the edge of the map) and I can always see the first barrage falling. But randomly after 2~3 volleys the explosion effect just would not show even the screen shifted to the target zone.
I checked to see if the guns were out of contact or disabled but they were fully functional

So in that case it actually fires or not?
