Default Upgrading WinSPMBT & OOB compatibility

Hi all,

I have an old version of WinSPMBT I've started playing again, it says "Version: 10 June 2005". Do I need to go through all the patches listed on this board (2.0 on)? I am sooo looking forward to my LCACs not getting bogged down in swamps!

Also, I have a modified OOB (units/weapons/formations) and a saved game. Do I need to copy these somewhere, then paste them back in after upgrading, and if so, which files exactly? (I think I know but I want to be 100% sure).

TIA
Awesome game BTW!

For the first question, yes, you have to install each patch.

If you have your modified OOB in the correct place i.e. stored in its own sub-folder for the OOB swapper utility, then you have no problems. The sub-folder will not be overwritten by the patch installs, so you can use the OOB swapper to swap in your OOB mod when needed.

If you simply slapped your modified OOB into the main OOB folder, overwriting the game OOB, then any patch installs will load any newly updated OOBS into the default folder, since only the official OOBS are meant to be there (with the OOB swapper folders there for holding your mods).

Saved games will not be overwritten, since there are no user save games in the installs (as opposed to scenarios, campaigns etc). However - if based on a modified OOB, then you need to have that saved off.

See the GG, "Running WinSPMBT" - Manage OOB Sets section, if you have not come across the OOB swapper yet. The Custom Set 1 folder is already provided as a blank starter template - you could simply stick your modified OOB(s) in there, or make your own folder with a meaningful name (to you) under Custom OOBS.

Cheers
Andy
