Invisible Commander List
Hi. Sometimes when I go into an army setup screen or to recruit troops and come back, the list of commanders on the left side of the screen just disappears. I can't find any way of getting it back other than to completely restart the program. I can still cycle through commanders without orders with the 'n' key, but otherwise I cannot select any commanders and cannot issue orders. It's really very problematic.
Anyone seen this before?

Re: Invisible Commander List
Im afraid the first question would be "where did you buy the game from"?
After that there are some possibilities.

Re: Invisible Commander List
I bought it from Gamers Front... the store advertised on this website. Admittedly, the package was a bit sketchy since it came as a shrink-wrapped manual and cd, but I'm given to believe that this is as official as it gets.
I must scratch my head though... why would that be the deciding factor in what's wrong?

Re: Invisible Commander List
One of the Copy Protections of the game hamstrings the UI in a variety of ways, making it disappear etc.
In some cases when people have had issues, they just had to reenter their cd-key correctly (or so I read in a similar thread earlier this month)
Can't help you, but your copy seems legit enough

Re: Invisible Commander List
Deleting the "key" file in your dominions directory will let you re-enter the CD-key in case you made a typo.
I don't know if that's the issue here, but it's worth a try.

Re: Invisible Commander List
Didn't someone report a bug like this a couple months ago, something to do with having accidentally clicking on the wrong area of the screen, so the commanders bar is off the edge of the monitor? You might try searching the forum for "UI bug". I don't remember offhand who reported it.
Of course, your problem *could* be something totally different. In any case, I've never experienced it, sorry.

Re: Invisible Commander List
Do you use the spacebar to open the commanders menu? The menu appears next to the mouse pointer. If its at the right side of the screen then parts of your screen "disappear" and cant seem to be brought back.
Deleting the key file and re-inputing it can help.
It might also be a graphics problem. Updating drivers can help. Or trying some of the graphic switches which can be added to the command line.
