Long Replay
I have a PBEM opponent who says it takes between 30 mins to one hour to view the replay of my last turn.
He says:
I just started to replay our turn and it is the same old shoot, wait 4 seconds, hit, wait 4 seconds, machine gun fire, wait 4 seconds, bullets hits, wait4...etc.
What could be causing this?
He says he has no problem with the other games he's playing. I have no trouble viewing his replays. He had this problem with one of our games just over a month ago.
He has 2 Gig of RAM, so no worries there.
He thinks it's because I have my move delay set for 300ms. I wouldn't have thought my graphics settings would effect his replay?
Anyone else experience this, or know what his problem may be?
cheers,
Cross

Re: Long Replay
Could be he is playing during a virus scan maybe?

Re: Long Replay
Gilas comment makes sense if he has a system hog virus checker otherwise corrupted somehow, only setting of yours it uses is stuff in prefs screen like fast arty air not setup stuff on misc screen, nice fast computer you have there.

Re: Long Replay
As Imp said, check the preference screen on top for the Graphics delay and animation setting. Also, from the main menu check the Misc tab for the graphics delay there and lower it to about 100ms. Have him start a small game and play with the results to find the best settings. It took me a couple of games before I finally got all my settings to where I'm comfortable...

Thats all I can think of too. Maybe he has AV software running in the background. Is he seeing this every turn or just some?

The virus scan running in the background is the best suggestion I've heard. But I think he has computer problems, which may also be the culprit.
It only happens on some turns.
He has said that his PC is messed up, and that has caused 'fast artillery' to turn itself on, and other strange events.

Re: Long Replay
He could need to clean out his computer. Whether it's dust or too many programs. It could be another program not just the virus scan.
