Default P&N racial trait poll

I have two good racial trait ideas, but they may be mutually exclusive

1) Vaccuum Hardened Race: Ships will not lose movement when Lifesupport or Crew quarters are destroyed. Losing the bridge and aux. con will still cause you to lose half movement.
- Note that races with vaccuum homeworlds do not automatically get this ability: outer space is not the same as the surface of a vaccuum world.

2) Psy-Hardened Race: Ships built by this race cannot be captured by Allegiance Subverters.


Which one would you prefer, and why?

I'd like to see both, but hard-coded by MM. What you call "vacuum hardened" I call "Non-respiratory" and have requested MM to add this trait more than once. There ought to be races that do equally well in all atmospheres.

The effect you call "Psy-hardened" I call a natural consequence of being a Mechanoid, and this resistance ought to be added to the Mechanoid trait. Resistance to plague is nice, but not worth 1000 racial points.

After these changes, make Emotionless races immune to PPP and we've got some interesting racial traits to work with.

This trait is not just "non-respiratory".
Vaccuum hardened means that the race has limited (many minutes) or better resistance to lack of atmosphere, gravity, food, shelter (from micrometeorites) etc.

It only applies to spacecraft that have been very badly damaged.

Your ideas would be very useful themselves, but getting hardcode changes is tough.

The idea of a non-respiratory race seems interesting, they could have a reduced max population but be able to colonize all planets from the start. They would have an atmosphere that is on no planets so they would always have to build domed but would be given the colonizing techs as part of their racial trait. This would put new emphasis on capturing other races to colonize with.
I would go with the Psy-Hardended race personally, in the later game the ability to move without certain components can become outmoded if the player uses repair bays or the special components that repair by themselves. The Psy-Hardening would help you against those allegiance subverters but you can just put a master computer on in addition to crew and bridge and i think that will solve taht problem, i'm not sure but that was what i think was happening in the Homecoming scenario, which btw everyone should download, i'm still in the process of beating it, its hard when you suck so much and there are all these big powerful empires around you.
