Default Two simple questions

Question 1: Say you have a weapon with a range of 8, another weapon with a range of 6, and your ship's order is "maximum range". At what range will the AI try to fire from?

Question 2: Do the small combat sensor and small ECM do anything on troops?

First will fire with the 8 range gun, and then will approach to fire with the 6 range gun.

The function of the small components it`s very obscure. I think nobody knows how it works. It is supposed to make troops mightier, so they have better chance to win. Bt i'm not sure.
