This version of SP and some questions for the owners
Hi all. I just got back into Steel Panthers and posted this little article about it and the issues I had briefly with Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
http://bluntforcegamer.com/?p=3451
But what I was wondering is if anyone can shed some light what mods DO work with the Shrapnel version that people may be using? I have the Cross Sounds already and the Cross Tiny Flag mod but did not want the Infantry mod. Are there scenarios written specifically for the Shrapnel version? or a mod site?
Lastly if I get the Full version does the digital download have enhanced resolutions or just the BOXED copy?
And I heard that there was a rumor of a wide screen patch?

Yes, content-wise the download Enhanced Edition is the same as the physical Enhanced Edition.

Re: This version of SP and some questions for the owners
Purchasing the game is very worth while if for nothing else because of the resolution.
MBT already has the widescreen in beta (actualy its desktop it auto configures to use the same dettings as your desktop) & the next patch for both games will provide it for those that bought the game.
Didnt bother reading what you wrote but makes all issues with operating stystems redundant works a treat.
My view tough if its difficult to get it to run its free & is an old game, pay & you just instal & play which is more than reasonable they had to get it to work.

Which "fix" for win7 did you try ? The NCrawler version our our BETA we posted a few weeks ago that starts the game from GameOptions ?
And it might be pointed out that if you read the development section of the game guide you will find work on our version of the game predates the "other" one.

Re: This version of SP and some questions for the owners
I used this fix:
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=45462
Nightcrawler
I couldnt get your beta one to work since it was for Main Battle Tank and I was unable to edit the file to get it to work with SPWW2. Just couldnt figure it out since I am not too programmer savy. Do you have one made for ww2 users? I couldnt find it here

Re: This version of SP and some questions for the owners
I forgot this was the WW2 forum. No we don't have one for WW2 but the next patch will be out in a couple of months. The MBT one was just a test BETA and may or may not be how we end up dealing with these issues.
HOWEVER, if you want to try a kludge and feel a bit adventurous follow this procedure
Extract the MBT fix to the main folder you have WW2 installed in
When they are extracted open the Win7SPMBT.cmd file by right clicking and then select EDIT
When it opens it looks like this
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
winSPMBT.exe
Start explorer.exe
change that to
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
winSPWW2.exe
Start explorer.exe
Then start the game with MBT's GameOptions.exe ( the WW2 one is named WW2GameOptions.exe
When it starts up it will look exactly like the normal WW2 game options but the button to start the game will say Play winSPMBT. If you make the change to the CMD file winSPWW2 should start for you.
Just remember it's a kludge.
A widescreen support BETA for WW2 will be posted shortly.

Re: This version of SP and some questions for the owners
Be aware that , as I said, it's a kludge. You will not be able to set opponents or the battle date from the MBT game Options and neither will it find the game guide or MOBhack help . You can set screen resolution and I think all the fields in MISC work.
Basically, if you are happy starting it with NCrawlers CMD then that would be the best way to go. This kludge fix isn't 100%
