SP with teams?
I'm playing a MP game on the http://game.dom3minions.com/bin/vsAI_chk.cgi server and wonder how the AI's are set up to not attack each other and can that ability be transferred to the SP game to create teams?
ie Team up Abysia and Kailasa vs Caelum and Niefelheim in a battle of the hots vs the colds.

Re: SP with teams?
Its done using the map command of #allies X Y where X and Y are the nation numbers for the nations to be allied. http://www.dom3minions.com/docs/nations.txt
The vsAI games that you are referring to
http://www.dom3minions.com/HostedGames.htm
create a randomly generated map for each game and add those commands to the end of the .map file for the nations that were selected to be put in as AI players
Yes you can do it locally. And you can create teams of AIs. In fact, one of the later games (Chaos games, not recommended for new players) uses two AI teams. The same randomly selected 3 nations are allied to not attack each other. And another team of two Indept nations are allied to each other.
If you create multiple AI teams and want to watch things, you can use the unlisted --comptrn switch to create turn files for the AIs that you can pick up and look at as if they were yours. (you cant change their actions but you can look at what they are doing)

Re: SP with teams?
Cheers for the quick reply.
My next question is how do I bring up the consol to enter these commands?
I've some things and found some new ones, like tab highlighting province names, # asking for what province number to view and Delete auto zooming the map out.

Re: SP with teams?
the # allies command is in the .map file, which can be opened with any text editor. if you go to dominions\doc folder and open the map modding document you can read about it there.

Re: SP with teams?
Here is also a quick-reference sheet just to give you an idea of what can be done with map commands.
http://www.dom3minions.com/docs/map_qref.txt
And if you really dive into map commands then be sure to look into the SemiRandom program by Ballbarian. It uses map commands to scatter surprise provinces around a map. Using map commands you can design a logical themed province where the name of the province, the units guarding it, the magic sites there, etc all make sense together. A town of undead, or a forest grove of birds, or a dragons den.
The SemiRandom program also uses map commands to randomly assign designed gods for AI. Instead of the random ones the game makes (which can be surprisingly good or surprisingly stupid) you can run a map thru SemiRand and get a god assigned that was specifically designed for that nation. The God, the magic choices, the scales, and even some extra equipment assigned to it in order to give it a good boost above vanilla AIs
If you want to check out what SemiRandom does there is a downloadable map on my site called Aran_dom, or you can play in one of the SRAND games on the server
